Yes, the resort steamed my dress and it looked perfect! Note: make sure they pick it up the first day you're there, and call them the next day so it's back right away. You don't want to give it to them the day before your wedding and cause added stress.

Chicagobride, I tried on the 2nd Maggie dress when I was a little curvier and didn't like how it caught on my hips. I lost about 10lbs for my wedding but didn't try it on when I had the figure of a little boy, but I was self-conscious of how it looked the first go around.

Girls, Ivan and his wife will both come to your wedding and I just asked them which entree they would like and had places for them at the reception. He posted a teaser of the TTD here:

He is absolutely amazing and I would recommend him to anyone. I can't wait to see the rest, the anticipation is KILLING ME! Oh, and I do promise to do my planning thread/review, lol. Someday!

OMG!! You guys look like models!! You look so beautiful. Your happiness completely shines through. Love it!!

For people who are worried about lack of rehearsal, don't even worry about it. What I did was to have a get together with the bridal party the weekend before to give them their gifts (i didnt want to take them to Mexico) and we had a mock rehearsal. It worked out all fine in the end.

For the photographer not being able to come to the room before the wedding is BS! My photog stayed at Gran and he was able to come to the room like 3 hours before the wedding. Your photog is part of the wedding. Don't fall for that vendor fee crap.

Nikki, great teasers!! Can't wait to see the rest.

ChicagoBride - I tried on the RD dress.  I know some of the other posters noted that it is only for small frames, but I disagree.  The reason I didn't like it was bc it seemed like I was trying to semi-conceal a belly (of which I don't have).  It seems to me like a good option if you are looking to accentuate your upper body and not your waist line.  For me, my waist is exactly what I want to accentuate, so it didn't work on my frame.  Regardless, I liked a lot of the Maggie dresses, but when I found my Maggie dress, the others just didn't compare.

Lisa DSO - Hair....I have really dark brown (almost black) hair with no highlights.  It is also very curly.  I was in a friend's wedding Labor Day weekend and I'm so glad that I did an updo for her wedding.  It helped me to decide that for my own wedding, I will wear my hair down. With dark hair, updos do not show up well in pictures....at least on me.  I just look like my hair is back.  Up close, my hair looked gorgeous, but in pictures, awful.  I still want my hair off my face, so I'm just going to have them pull the sides back and work w/my curls.  I have learned to embrace the curls, especially with humidity.  I would rather not try and fight em, but work with em.

I can't recall who asked about the runner.  I requested NO red carpet.  You can bring your own, but they do not recommend that.

Also, the patio looks like cobblestone, but it's not.  It is concrete that is stamped to look like pavers, so it is mostly smooth.  Not hard to walk on at all.  My only concern is snagging my dress on gazebo wood floor, but I'll just deal.

For girls worries about the Red aisle runner, I have already talked to my WC about it.  My colors are pink and lime green so there is NO WAY in heck I am having a red aisle runner....though it looks really pretty in other peoples pictures.  My wedding corrdinator said that they do not have a white one as an alternate, you will have to bring your own.  The Red on they have is approximately 59' x 5'.  (Pretty dang big).  I have found a place (www.chapelrunners.com) that now have them cheaper than I have seen them for $109 (50' x 3') or $129 (75' x 3').  This comes with a custom monogram on it and free shipping (to the US).  I have also seen them at Wal-Mart believe it or not for $20.00 for plain white (not sure on the lengeth).

Also, I still have not chosen a photographer!!  Yikesss!!  We were just going to go with a larger package from the people the Royal provides "Funever" but I looked at their website and was so disappointed.  I am a picture freak, and I would die if we had bad wedding photos.  We had pretty bad engagement photos....so now I am super sensative to it!  Anyone have a quote from Ivan?

Also I was thinking for those who say your photog can't go into the room with you, if you are getting the package, you could just use the photographer that comes with the package and use him/her for that hour or two and then when the ceremony is starting, you can use your "real" photographer.  Just a thought!  I still need to decide what in the heck I am going to do!  smile35.gif

Hey! would it be a pain to get an isle runner down to mexico??

you can PM me and i can send you Ivan's prices! we booked him for our wedding!! he is amazing and very reasonably priced......i wouldnt go with the resort photographer....and FYI Ivan does not work with you if you have a second photographer  (like the resort one), he wants to make sure no one is in his way while he's at work lol....it's in his contract......and your photographer can definately be in your room as long as you either pay the vendor fee OR book them a room at the hotel...... I am using him for ALL day coverage!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
