Wanna hear something hilarious (i must be delirious cuz i find it funny)?

My event coordinator for my Dallas reception won't send me a contract so I can send him money and book the venue! lol was he sent from the Michigan office? tee hee

I'm giving him benefit of the doubt since he recently replaced someone, but jeez it's been a week and he told me this morning he PROMISED to have it to me by earlier today (still nothing).

So comical...

There is no price difference; they are both 850. I think with the resort you just get the DJ and I'm not sure about any extras, but if you book through Ivan, you get 2 cold fireworks, mask, balloons, etc. How much did you all who booked Ivan pay and did you book him directly or through the resort? THIS IS ALL SOOOOO CONFUSING!!! I really want straight answers!smile27.gif

I agree! I am over hear yelling!

Did anyone add on a cocktail hour to your package? Julie told me $15.00 pp but the form she emailed says $10.00. I really need some consistency! I am stuck on trying to find out what we are doing for our welcome event and guess what? I got selected to be on a jury today. I need to take days off work and I have soooo much going on!

focus.gif For you all who are making OOT bags, how are you going to pass them out?

Now, on another note, I found out that someone else booked. So now we have 15!!! YAY!!!!
I'm very thankful for you ladies!

geez, it can't be stressed enough to keep all your emails! This is a little ridic! I added a cocktail hour at 10/pp (that is for cold cocktails), I believe the "hot" option is 20/pp. I have no idea where the 15/pp came from

Congrats on your 15 guests! And I would also like to know about OOT bags. I hear its like $5 for each bag for them to hand deliver them to rooms. Those thieves! I thought about waiting for my guests in the lobby on the day they arrive to give it to them but that is a lot of work and I want to lay on the beach and relax!!

We used this one www.rainfallofenvelopes.com
It's not half as cute as duprk's, though, lol. Wish I would've researched more before choosing!

That is a bummer that they don't carry the ones you're looking for sad.gif Good luck!! And I'm sure you'll find the ONE before you know it!

beachbum1285,

That is beautiful!! How are you getting them to set it up like that? What I mean is, what are your specific instructions to them? Are they going to provide the extra tool/fabric in your co-ordinating colours or are you going to take it down with you? What about the two beautiful flower arrangements? Are you paying extra for that?

Man, if they can set it up like that, then I will def have it on the beach!!!

lluna, The resort charges like 1k just for the DJ without the light up dance floor. With DJ Ivan, the dance floor is included.
You ladies that booked Ivan last year are lucky! It seems that the price is the same as the Royal, and he DOES NOT provide the dance floor in the cost - it's an additional $750 or something like that. We are DANCERS (meaning me, lol) so I'm going to splurge for the dance floor - just told FI the cost incl. the dance floor, and didn't mention that the dance floor was extra, lol. To me, there are some extras that are worth it - I'd rather pay the $750 for the dance floor than $75 per table (we have 10 tables) for centre pieces!

Ivan seems really cool and nice though. He said that he has an agreement with Real Resorts that they will not charge people vendor fees if they book him directly. He also cc'd that email to the wedding manager who is based in Cancun.

Hmm, I think I have to look up Mexico's law governing contract law (i'm in the legal profession). Here, emails are agreements and once agreed upon it's terms and accepted, it is a binding contract. I will have to see whether that is the same in Mexico. If it is...and they try to screw with me...best watch out fencing.gif lol.

Thanks! I've been keeping them. I read the thread from beginning to end so I've been saving EVERYTHING! It's just so frustrating!

More than likely, we are going to have a welcome cocktail and pass them out there. The next night we will probably have a rehearsal event (dinner or something-still planning it) and pass them out for those who weren't at the first event.

Regarding, DJ Ivan, I get a dance floor, the works and 4 hours of his service. I believe if you book through the resort, then the same price is ONLY for his services without the dance floor. Don't quote me on this so I guess the only way to find out is to contact him directly.

It is $10pp for the cocktail hour for real resort guests and $20 for non guests.

We are not doing OOT bags because we are splurging on other stuff.

Did he actually say that anyone who books him directly won't have to pay the vendor fee? I emailed him last night and he said that we do have to pay the vendor fee because we booked him directly. I would like to get bottom of this.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
