Quick Q - did anyone else utilize the wedding Site Inspection Program (visiting during planning, and then supposedly getting what you paid for that trip back in resort credit when you return for your wedding), and if so, was it easy to get your resort credit from your past stay? I am in the process of trying to work it out with them right now, and so far it hasn't been an easy process - they're telling me they have on record for my previous stay that it wasnt me (my parents came with us, but we were there too, and I provided confirmation numbers), and that we get less than we paid because it's based on what the resort got from the travel agent who booked us, not what we paid (but we didn't use a TA previously). Just curious as to others' experiences!

See you soon Jordan!!!

Super excited :)

I JUST got back from my wedding, so I don't have many professional shots back yet (and none so far that show the whole layout, ready-to-go), but these (one professional and some from friends during setup and the actual party) might help you! We did dance floor in the middle with three tables (for a total of 6, each with 7-9 people) on each side, and sweetheart table at the top, facing the ocean.

Here they are setting it up, so you can see the layout - we also had a cake table to the right of the sweetheart table, and a table for guestbook, escort cards, etc. to the right, farther back.

You can see how the sweetheart table is at the top of the dancefloor facing everyone here. Cake table is hiding behind us.

Here is a closer shot of what our sweetheart table looked like.

And what cake table looked like up close...

And finally, a professional shot from Del Sol of what my tables looked like when deocrated! Hope that helps!

Sorry, I meant that the guestbook, escort card table was to the left of the sweetheart table, farther back. At the entrance to the reception from the Gazebo. Our reception is at Gazebo beach, so the Gazebo where the ceremony was, is directly behind the sweatheart table.

Hi Ladies! Im sort of new on here.. well I've been reading a lot but really haven't posted much ha. Okay so our wedding is set for April 20th and we are bringing our photographer from the states, I know I've read on here that as long as they only bring a certain amount of stuff with them they will be okay going through customs but has anyone ever received anything from the resort stating that you paid the outside vendor fee for you photographer to shoot your wedding that day? Also, we're doing a trash the dress type thing (nothing too crazy) the day after and I was hoping i could get some tips as to where to go for good pictures. He is staying at a different resort and I'd rather not be at the royal for those pictures but its all of our first time being in playa so we def do not know our way around! Any tips? =) ~Jessica

Hello Jessica! 20th April is around the corner and I am so happy for YOU:)

Kids are allowed for wedding and reception, YES

Regarding vendors fees: YES you need to pay a fee to Royal to bring your own vendor, any vendor (photographer, make up artist, musician): the fee is 300usd per vendor.

Regarding TTD, I have been in Playa for 17 yrs and the best TTD sessions I have seen have been done in cenotes, you can rent a car the day after the wedding and drive with photographer 20mi south of Playa to go to cenotes, they are open 10 to 5 entrance betw 5 and 10 usd, do NOT go on SUnday, it's full. If you want some extra tips, write or tell your photographer to call when here....9841285785

Happy to help!

Maria

Hi Jessica! You don't really receive anything from the resort about your outside vendor fee, but when you have your first meeting when you get down there you should talk to the WC about it. I think they will probably be given a different wristband. Don't quote me on this, but I believe if your photographer is staying at the Royal you should not have to pay a vendor fee because they are a guest. I had a friend act as our "videographer" and we didn't have to pay a vendor fee for him.

Fair warning about customs in mexico with camera equipment, he will probably be searched mulitple times on his way HOME. We carried on our camera bag and didn't have any problems going in to Mexico, but they searched us 3 times leaving Mexico. Actually they gave my husband a full body pat-down at the boarding gate and kept me secluded from him :( It was frustrating but we got through it fine.

Is there a reason you don't want to do your TTD at the Royal? If you go early in the morning there is almost no-one on the beaches and there are a lot of great spots you could take advantage of.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
