ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Girls, another question...

So, I am getting legally married in a large (320 guests) ceremony/reception at home on October 30, 2010.  For Playa, we do not want a "legal" ceremony -- I guess it's a "civil" ceremony we want?  I want to do a sand ceremony and hand ceremony.  How do I organize this?  Do I tell our WC?  Do I need to "plan" the timing of everything, i.e. when we want the hand ceremony, when we want the sand ceremony, etc?  I'm sooo confused on how to go about it!!!

Agghhh.....planning two weddings is an absolute gong show!!

Luna, the civil ceremony is the legal ceremony so you don't want that. From what I've heard, you should be able to do both with the symbolic ceremony I'm pretty sure you would just give that information to your WC when you meet with her. You may want to email it to her too so you will have it for your records. They have some really nice sand ceremony frames on Etsy. Hope everything works out!

Hi Runningbride,

I had a family relative to do my hair!

Here are the pictures in my planning thread.

Check out the last page...i posted a picture of back of my hair.

Regarding miscommunication and lack of replies from the WCs, I am sorry that is happening to you, Raveyn but they will take care of you once you are down there. I had NO problems with Lilia at all.

Congrats to Juliet & Lisa!!!!  cheesy.gif  We our doing our legal ceremony next Monday, it's the anniversary of our first date :)

I'm so happy that Angie Silva, my new WC finally emailed me all the details and checklists!  Now it's really crunch time.  I hope everything goes smoothly from this point out...yikes.

I had my make up done by the women at the Royal spa.  I brought a picture of an idea of how I wanted it to look.  They did an amazing job, and I would not have changed a thing.  Of course I needed to touch up lipstick and what not, but what kind of make up stays perfect when it's blazing hot and you have people kissing you and hugging you all night?  I would recommend them to anyone.  We also had our hair done there as well and they did an amazing job on that too.

Hi ladies!!

I am new to this board. I spent hours last night reading through it and I can not even tell you how wonderful and SUPER helpful all the information was!

A little about me: I am 29, live in Boston and we are booking our date for The Royal tomorrow!! We will be getting married there June 11, 2011. I am so excited!!

I was a little concerned at first since I read about how terrible the WCs are there but I am confident it will all work out and we have a wonderful TA from Beach Bum Vacations who has been amazing!

Just thought I would introduce myself and again this board is really excellent! The information here has already been so helpful to me! I am looking forward to getting to know all of you ladies!

Luna - me too!  I've been trying to find good Unity Sand Ceremony vessels (vases or frames where you can pour the sand in)

Misglave - THANK YOU for the Etsy tip!  I didn't see any sand ceremony stuff there when I looked earlier, but I'll check again.

Luna - my WC said we just need to give them the vows/script for the Officiant to read, or if you two are reading it.  And bring the "stuff" - like the vases, the colored sand, the ribbon for hand ceremony etc.

Just tell them what you want to do and when, and they do it.  You can communicate it earlier, but they will take care of it, probably when you meet them onsite, just before the wedding.

SAND CEREMONY QUESTION - When , in the ceremonly, are people doing it? We are doing a symbolic, simple short ceremony (non-catholic, non-denominational) and I'm not sure "when" the sand ceremony should happen.  Any tips?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
