Thank you!

I know that we've all been wondering if the new wedding packages are available to us who may have already booked a package with the resort. I emailed Zulma last evening with that question and she emailed me back today. She said that we can select an OLD or NEW wedding package; whichever we prefer. If one of the new packages includes more, you can go with it and feel great about it.

That is such great news to me because we didn't want to spend $50 more per person to have a private reception. We were planning on going to a restaurant on 5th Ave. for dinner since there are 12 of us and the resort won't sit a table if there's more than 8 people. We are getting the Classic Wedding Package. Also, did you notice that if you are having a minister or justice of the peace, it is now just $400, not $550. The good news just keeps on coming.

Now, we are planning on taking one of the new packages and have our own private reception on the beach, for a small charge. I am so friggin' happy.

Only one week until we leave!!!!!

Hope this helps ladies!

Hey Girls! Ok lots going - I leave in less than 2 days!! Whoa....then i hear about the SWINE FLU OUTBREAK in MEXICO!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now i am scared - we have (2) 3 month olds coming and 2 other toddlers....Should I warn their moms?? Oh man why now? i have enough stress!! PLus i had a dream last night that my wedding got all screwed up! argh!

Anyway - I was told that i didn't need my docs translated!!! DO that have to be? Oh no - i am scared now....well i guess if they do then we can just have the symbolic ceremony and get legally married when we return. I can't stress about it - i have waaay to much going on these next two days...speaking of that - i am late for my final hair cut/color!!

Let me know if anyone has heard about this new outbreak!!

So, in addition to the drug wars and the swine flu advisories, my TA just sent me this hotel advisory for the Royal:

"PLEASE NOTE THERE IS CONSTRUCTION GOING ON BEHIND THE HOTEL, ON 1ST AVENUE. IT CAN BE NOISY AT TIMES BETWEEN 8AM AND 6PM. THIS CONSTRUCTION DOES NOT BELONG TO THE HOTEL."

Fabulous....

I have heard of the flu but only on this website, there are some other threads about it I think in the chit chat corner and mexico travel threads. I am not sure what to tell you. All I can say is that several brides on here have just return with no problems and my friends parents just returned without problems- I don't know, it might only be a bigger problem if you venture out of the resort to the poverty ridden communities surounding the resort, like there are several on the way to Tulum.

As for your docs... look at the website, if you have never been married before you only need the blood test and your passport or something like that so you would be ok. If you have been married before you degree was to be translated and therefore you would not be able to legally marry and will have to do it when you return. Don't worry either way you will have a beautiful wedding and everything will work out!

Well that is just great! Obviously my wedding is far enough away that this doesn't effect much. Perhaps our brides that just got back can tell us how bad it is? Tati? Veronica? This is always one of my big fears when its my turn to go.

Ladies, for those who are having their reception on the beach like i am next year, do you know how late we can stay out there? Angie from Condo Villa World told me you have to be out by 10pm. I think that is way to early to end a reception!!! i also read somewhere else that you can have the reception on the beach until 11pm - so im just confused. Does anyone else know what time the reception has to end if on the beach? Anyone else concerned that 10pm is to early?! Thanks! Adriana

I was told by our DJ that if the reception was in the Garden, it needed to end by 10pm. If you're having it at the beach, it's 11pm. You can go an hour longer if you have it within the ballroom.

I didn't know that. So, basically, if your dinner starts at 6 and ends at 7, then you have speeches, first dance, etc... for 1/2 hr, you only end up with 2 hrs of dancing? And we're paying $1000 for the DJ for this?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
