Recommended Posts

Ok ladies you lit a fire under my A** regarding dress shopping!!!  Thank you for the advice. I just made an appt for the 23 to try on Maggie Sotterro dresses.  I went to Davids a couple months ago and no luck, I hope this goes better!

Jess you are awesome, thank you so much for the La Tortuga info!  Runningbride good luck, and ummmm I may need to ask you about the Brazilian...I'm too chicken, hehe.smile27.gif

Hi Ladies! I have been trying to catch up on this thread before I started posting stuff, but its nearly impossible! lol! So much great information so far though =)

Anyway, wanted to introduce myself before I started popping in with questions and everyone's like "who's this girl?" lol.

My FI and I are booked for June 3rd at the RPDC and are still trying to work out a lot of the details, but just wanted to say Hi! and thanks for all of the info so far!

The only question I have that I would like to know, but haven't found in this thread yet is....

For those of you that have had/will have your welcome social at the Gran (since I anticipate a lot of our guests will be staying there), do you just show up to the lobby bar? Or do you have to have a reservation? Do they charge?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Maritza...welcome3.gif

I am getting married at the RPDC on June 12th! There are quite a few of us who are all June brides here :)

As far as organizing a welcome social, I think it depends on how formal you want it. If you want to have dinner and drinks you may need to make a reservation. If you are just having everyone meet down there for a few drinks I doubt it would be a huge problem...unless the resort is at a high capacity that night. I wanted to do something like that, but I am not sure exactly when a majority of my guests are going to be coming in yet.

All the ladies on here are so helpful and there is so much useful information on here! This board has been so amazing for my planning!!

Let us know if you have any other questions and happy planning!

PS I am getting a brazilian done the day before I leave, I was told to take ibprofin before smile43.gif

Hi Jes!  Definitely take a couple advils about 1/2 hour  - hour before.  I've done with and without and with is definitely a little less painful.  I'd also suggest to go at least 2 days before you leave...because sometimes redness can last a little longer than anticipated.

Welcome Maritza!!! Love seeing another June bride!! June 16th for me!!  cheer2.gif

I agree - it depends on how formal you want your event. If you don't mind sharing space with others - no need to make reservations. But if you plan on having a large group - it might be a good idea to make reservations. The fee charges are the same as for the reception from the wedding packages. if you look at the Luxury package - it should state the fees for drinks and food.

At least that's what my WC told me. You will find that it all depends on what your WC says. They all give different answers. rolleyes.gif

So with the flowers I was told if I picked them up myself - no vendor fees. If my vendor comes and sets it up - I will be hit with a fee. Sweet!! Saving myself $350 on that one!!

For the Brazilian - if it's your first - take 2-3 advils 30mins before your appointment. Definitely have it done couple of days ahead of time.

If you keep it up, you'll find the pain gets less and less.

KEY: Do not schedule it near your time of the month!! You will be super sensitive and no amount of advil will make it feel better. Unless you don't have the option, just remember to inhale deeply and exhale.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
