HAHAAH - still this is so unfair to other brides. This is not the first time I have heard this. We are currently looking into other options and possibly doing a non-resort wedding. I am waiting for quote from a baker, florist, musicians ect.. It will be interesting to see how the rates differ.

After all the hupala with DJ Ivan and the rate changes I e-mailed Angie. I sent her over an excel sheet with everything itemized with the prices. I basically did her job for her. All I asked was for her to cofirm the prices for me and have them to me by today. That was four days ago, I re-emailed her again, guess what nada.

I am beyond frusterated and fed up with the Royal at this point. I will keep everyone posted on what we end up doing and how the prices differ if you book everything your self and do a non-resort wedding.

Best
Jess

I know they are all this way sad.gif after we met with Zulma on our site visit. She never got back to me, its four weeks now and nothing. I know everyone says once you get there everything is wonderful but I just can't support a place that does business this way.

Not to mention the fact I don't want to be stressing about the fact they may change some rate on me. This should be a happy and relaxed time. Instead I stress everyday that something else is going to come up with this place.

I was thinking of contacting Tammy the BDW host and seeing if there was a way to get a contact for some really high up at The Royal. I don't think they uderstand that they porbably are starting to lose business. Does anyone know how I can contact her over the forum?

I believe that my TA Jennifer has some contacts at The Royal. You could e-mail me and I could forward it to her.

I really hope everything works out for you and all of the us, the brides!

Regarding the catamayan, I also got a different rate. I think it may have to do with the date. Mine is over the memorial weekend so maybe that is why the rates they gave me are higher.

I have the same TA, TA Jennifer. She's been so fabulous at handling all the details with the resort so I don't have to. It's made things so much less stressful.

I've heard so many great things about weddings at the Royal that I'm sure that things will work out well.

Hang in there ladies.

Wow, theres alot of confusion, I havent been on in days, last time I was I posted looking for dj ivans info, and then I emailed him and was told id have to book through the resort for his services, no problem. I emailed Paty and she just sent back a price, so I emailed Kimberly(who I have to say has been great with everything, answering questions, getting back to me promptly) and she told me the "situation" she didnt say anything bad, other then people that were booking through resort and through him personally were being charged 2 different prices, but I think thats typically how it works, ofcourse youre going to get a better rate booking w/ ivan, the hotel/venue always charges more, whether on an island or back in the states. So technically the hotel is at fault but everyone needs to make their cut. As far as pricing always changing if youre already locked in and have your contract I see no need to worry, thats what contracts and lawyers are for :)

Either which way I now am booked for dj ivans services on our day.

I was told I wouldnt have to pay a vendor fee for him because he is "preffered" and I already have my outside photog' booked and she said everythings fine with that, they were only changing the issue with the dj.

It sucks to stress over your wedding and sucks even more when were thousands of miles away.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
