ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow Royal brides,

It's been a while since I've been on the website...I'm one of those brides that isn't doing a whole lot of extra planning and just enjoying the stress free easiness that comes with a destination wedding. That being said...it is now Nov 7th, and my big day is coming FAST! (DEC 2). I've got some questions I'm hoping all you experienced BDW forum girls can answer... I'm going with the Luxury Package and was wondering if anyone that has already done this or some of you girls that might have the answers can help...

1) How much is it for day pass? Back when I first got on this site, I thought it was $100 - now it looks like it is $195 for the full day!! Seems steep..just wondering if anyone else got quoted less recently. I'm flying in a photographer, but he is staying at another hotel.

2) For the hairstyle and makeup included at the spa - do they have a lot of good make up to use or should I be bringing in my own? And for my hair, if I want a flower in it, do they supply that?

3) What is the Men's Face Saver?...

4) Did you find you needed extra decorations for the Gazebo or the beach reception? If so...does it cost quite a bit more to add to it?

5) Has anyone used the harpist during the wedding? I'm trying to decide if i want that or maybe the violin or saxiphone - any feedback? Also on this - how long do they play? Is it at the beginning of the wedding and then we use our own music for the actual wedding?

I know I probably have SO many more questions!! But guess I will go with this for now. Thanks girls!!!

When you go on your site visit, can you find out one thing for me please? When we had our food tasting, the portions they were bringing out to us to taste were pretty small. I had asked the waiter if the portion he was bring to us was a sample size for us because of the tasting, or if it was the real size of what each guest would be recieving during the wedding. Well, i dont think he understood my question so i did not recieve a clear answer. I feel as though he had said the size is what each guest would recieve. Is there anyway you can find out about the portion size and confirm?

Thanks so much!

Adriana

Hi Ladies,

It's been forever since I've checked in but it looks like everyone's planning is going smoothly (besides the lovely price increases!). We now have 52 people booked and still have 50 more that need to RSVP, so exciting! JESMCAN: If you still have the catamaran packages would you mind emailing them to me at k44@hotmail.com, enjoy your site visit, very, very jealous!!!!!!

they usually assign you one when you contact the Royal...what they have now is that they assign one from U.S. then about 14 days before your wedding, a WC from the Royal will contact you. Hope that will help.

There is a discounted day passes for your wedding guests if they mention they are with your wedding. Your photographer will have to pay $100 (vendor fee) and you would have to pay $60 for a non resort guest for your reception if you are feeding him only if you go over 35 people.

i am interested about the makeup part...maybe jesmcan can answer this when she comes back from her site visit? :)

I am brand new to this site, but am so glad I found it! We are currently booked at the Royal PDC for July 4th, but just heard some things about it that werent great..... Privacy on the beach during the ceremony and reception being the major thing, (speedo man standing behind the ceremony in front of the ocean, anyone??) along with getting "bumped" to a mediocre resort 20 miles south. For those of you that have been there, is the privacy issue that big of a deal to you? Or was I misinformed? We are currently looking at other places and TA's, but would really love to know that this isnt that big of a deal. Thanks for any help or advice you have!!
Privacy is a non issue if you get married at a late time. Our wedding was at 5:00 and we had NO issues! There is security there making sure no one busts up in the middle of everything & most of the people there are respectful. They will go out of their way to avoid bothering you during your special day!

Thanks for the help!
Use Del Sol! I just got married at the Royal on Oct24 and they saved my wedding!! It looked like it was going to rain, so we thought about moving the wedding inside and the photographer told me NO! Stay outside, the weather moves in the opposite direction! He was right, thank God for him! He and his assistant were wonderful!

I was worried about makeup and hair too. They had tons of makeup and everything came out great! All of my bridesmaids had their hair and makeup done there as well. They were all impressed (we are pretty picky people).

If any of you have questions, let me know. The Royal was the best decision we could have made! Our guests were all very impressed. We are all already making plans to go back next year!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
