ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

I'm so beyond confused with the menu thing. Tutti I sent what I got but it was from last Feb. so I don't know if thins have changed.

So I'm going to have about 50 people and I was comparing the Luxury and the Ultimate Luxury package and I found that they're both the same except that the Ultimate includes a coctail reception and also they do a large cake.

Has anyone gotten a price on a welcome coctail reception?? We'd like to do something for everyone in lieu of a rehearsal dinner.

Also, I know it's random, but are the centerpieces included or are they extra?? I'm really confused now with what is included and what's not.

OMG, thank you!!! That is exactly what I need! I don't think they will be able to see them under my dress!

I asked Kimberly to send me prices for the welcome cocktail today.

Regarding centerpieces, I don't think they are included. The cheapest is $15. I am considering buying my own centerpieces on Luna Baazar and bring them to the resort. They are like $3 each. I just hope that the glass centerpieces will make it!!

Hi Lexibride,

No center pieces are extra, as well as bouquets and bouts. There is a wedding check list that breaks all the prices down. Each item is labeled on the pdf and than you match it to the price shown on the wedding check list.

We are doing a 1 hour welcome cocktail reception that is included in the ultimate luxury wedding package. We are doing it at the royal at one fo the restaurants. Also I did read that one of he brides just had everyone meet at one of the bars and put tables together and that it worked out perfectly.

So I need help in making a decision, ladies. I'm about to put my deposit down for wedding on 6/5/10 at the ROYAL in the gazebo w/reception in the garden. YAY! I'm SOOO pumped!

We were planning on all staying at the ROYAL, however, FI's sister (and my bridesmaid) is bringing her 5yr old daughter. I'm totally cool w/that, but I feel bad to make them stay at the Gran when everyone else would be at the ROYAL. His mom already said her and father of groom will be staying w/his sister & neice, as well, so basically his whole fam (except for 4 other members) will be staying in a completely different hotel & won't even have access to the ROYAL frown.gif

So my question is, do I change it to where we all stay at the Gran or just let them stay there and everyone else stay at the ROYAL? If you can't tell, I want to stay at the ROYAL ha!

Is the ROYAL that much better than the Gran? I've read reviews on tripadvisor.com about the Gran and didn't get a very good impression of it.

Any help/advice is GREATLY appreciated!!

IF it were me I would still stay at the Royal. You can go hang out with the at the Gran they just can't come to the Royal, so not a huge deal. Also the beach is public, you can spend time together on the beach and on 5th Avenue. Then for dinner you will just have to join them at the Gran.

We are expecting that most of our family/friends will be staying at Gran so we are staying there until our wedding day then we'll stay there for our honeymoon.

Like Stephanie says, you can just go and visit them!

Jesmcam - I'm doing the luxury package because when I compared that and the Ultimate, the only difference was that the Ultimate allowed for 15 more people (cost of $450 if they're all Royal guests), a larger cake (cost of $150) and the coctail reception, which I'm unsure of the cost but I can't imagine that it would be $4400 for the coctail reception which would be the ending price difference between the luxury and the ultimate luxury - can I ask if there's something I'm missing? The cost between the two just doesn't seem comparable so we're doing the Luxury, adding 15 people and doing the bigger cake. We'll be spending $600 more than the luxury package, but still having to figure out the coctail thing which can't be as much as the the entire wedding.

Any thoughtshuh.gif I'm so confused on all of this that I just may be missing out on something.

It may be other things in the package as well that is making Ultimate so expensive. I think Kimberly said it was $10 per Real guest for cocktail and I am not sure about non guest. I would guess $15 or $30.

Once again, I've let quite a lot of time slip away since last posting. But, our engagement is now official. Yay! We're now exploring more affordable options, even though we were previously completely sold on The Royal. I'm concerned it would be too much of a burden for our guests.

My question: Have any of you used Tammy's company to put together packages for you? I'm curious about what kind of turn-around time I should expect. I sent off an email request on Monday, but still haven't heard back. I'd really like to use her company since this forum has been so helpful for me, but I'm thinking about calling some others...At the same time, I don't want to be unreasonable, but it seems like I should have heard back by now. Anyone have any insight?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
