Hey ladies! Is anyone working w/the WC, Kimberly R, at the Royal/Gran? She's my WC (or will be, anyway. I'm waiting to hear back from her about my date confirmation & its taking forever! Well forever to me, lol). I've read through this thread and her name hasn't popped up at all so I was just wondering, has anyone had any experience w/her?

Stevensfiance-

I agree with jesmcan. It is all personal preference - my fiance and I went to the Riveria Maya on our first vacation together and thought this area would be perfect for our wedding. I do not think Cancun is our style for what is in and around the city - we love the area to the south and therefore based the hotel selection on the fact that we wanted to be in Playa. I think it is all about your personal preference as I am sure both the hotels are excellent!!!

Ladies/Gentlemen-

On another note - dj is booked! Any songs that stick out in your head as "must-haves"?

hi candice, Im dealing with a Kimberly R? is that the same one? Shes about a day off in responding back, but if you send the same email 2 or 3 times a day (lol) theres a 90% chance she will reply the same day. i just got all the menus she sent over and now we are going to pick for our tasting.

Yeah, I have her too! She is a bit slow with responding e-mails but so far I've been direct but polite with her and she has been responding to my e-mails more quickly. Just be nice and sweet...emphasize that it is really important to you taht you get an idea what's going on. I was working with her and another girl named Alana Wolfman. Alana was faster with the replies but looks like I'm stuck with Kimberly...it is all good as long she reply to my email within a day! Lol.

Right now I have the Classic package, but if enough people book for my wedding that I can justify the private reception then I will switch to the Luxury package. I am flying in a photographer. Nathan Cordova, he use to live in Mexico and 2nd shoot for Elizabeth Lloyd and now its back in Portland, he is super affordable! I am getting married at the Gazebo. What are you doing for packages, etc?

I understand the personal preference of PDC over Cancun, and I should be thinking of our guests. I guess we both just really like the idea of it in Cancun because we got engaged there. Our first vaca' we actually went to the bahamas and we always said thats where we were going to get married, however I didnt like one place we looked at in the bahamas, with the exception of the one and only club, but for the price they want we would rather getting married in NYC.

We also went through the menus that Kimberly sent us for our tasting I was told to pick 3 salads 3 entrees and 3 deserts, so Im going to list our choices and if any of you ladies had these selections or are going to have a tasting before Nov, I would just like your feed back. The only area we are stuck in is the chicken for the entree, they only have 2 options are both are stuffed with seafood. So that obvsiously wont work the people who dont eat seafood or steak, so we were thinking of having the pasta from the vegetarian menu as another option. Kim said the menus are the same for both Royals, so here goes.

SALADS: 1. garden salad with raw veggies mixed with hot almond vinaigrette

2. carribbean salad with shrimp, smoked pineapple....

3. Avocado stuffed with crab pulp

Entrees: 1. beef fillet tournedo w/ 3 peppers sauce

2. salmon fillet varnished w/ sauce bearnaise....

3. huh.gifhuh.gif both chickens are stuffed with seafood...from the vegetarian menu, linguini w/ dried tomato sauce?

Desserts: (I dont do desserts so Steve picked all of them)

1. tart tatin w/ pear cream & cinnamon caramel

2. cheesecake with chocolate

3. baked pear stuffed with almond mousse

FYI- I check the Royal website from time to time and it looks as if they are changing things up again. The packages appear to be the same with the same prices that came out in May but they are now going to be doing an new "wedding Al a Carte" option. It looks as if its coming soon and that may change a lot of things for a lot of brides. Also, there are lots of extras on the new site for pricing different things and viewing ceremony sites and stuff.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
