Kimmy,

From what I understand they are only allowed into the hotel for the wedding event, so I am guessing they keep a close watch on if they are going up to rooms or if they head strt out to the wedding site. They do allow Gran guests all access to the Royal ONLY IF they are staying in a Gran Suit. These are the top dollar rooms at the Gran...they are the same price or moremore $ than the Royal Jr Suit Ocean View. That is part of why I am upset. They guests who are staying at the Gran are trying to save $, so they are not going to get one of teh most expensive rooms.

We were just going to move all the wedding event over to the Gran and stay there while our guests are in town, but the Gran suit they were talking about putting us in was the same price as the suit at the Royal, but did not have the jacuzzii and we did not have access to any of the Royal. Hell, for the price of the Royal I want acess to all the amenities the Royal has....right!?!?

I think this is so mis-leading since it says children are allowed for all wedding related activities. I really don't see what the big deal is in having them at the room. Does this mean they won't be allowed in the spa either??

GRRRRRRR....contacting the WC and she what she says I will keep you guys posted
Jesmcan,

From what Carol told me they do not allow any children in the hotel accept to attend the ceremoney and private receptions. I was so sad because my daughter who will be 6 then is taking part in our ceremoney and Carol told me she would not be allowed in my room while I was getting ready. She said they have had guests complain about children in the hotel outside of the wedding area, and that is why they are saying no. She did say (with a negative tone in her voice) that we could try to get one of the rooms near the street and sneek my daughter in...but I am not about to do that and then have a guest complain and security come tell me, on my wedding day, my daughter has to leave. That would be just terrible! So, I told her no thank you. Let me know what you find out after you talk to your WC

Thank you. Not sure if we will have time for a site visit, but we will try and be there a few days before.

Thanks, Kim

Trentlaw posted on June 24 that their guests paid $20 for the guest pass. Also in the price list I got it states guest price and non guest price. Non guest price means not staying at the Royal.

From Zulma: "In the attachments I sent you can find the description of each buffet
Regarding the non guest price this is all the people that is not staying in
the royal playa del Carmen :)"

Our photographer Samuel Luna offers an extra shoot so we chose to have him do the rehersal dinner and thought a catamaran would be really cool. They offer the following,

Morning Charter with Grilled Burgers
From 10am to 2pm

The lunch includes:
Green salad with Italian and French dressing, Guacamole, Mexican salsa, tortilla chips and an hamburger that our chef grills on our stainless steel grill on the back of the catamaran.

Cost: USD $40 Per Person

Morning Charter with Lobster or Steak
From 10am to 2pm
The lunch includes:

Green salad with Italian and French dressing, pasta salad, mexican salsa, Guacamole, Tortilla chips and Choice of one Rib Eye Steak or one Lobster tail that our chef grills (with garlic and butter).

Cost: USD $50 Per Person

You also may consider a Sunset Charter, as follows the prices and options:

SUNSET Charter with Snacks

From 3:30pm to 7:30pm
The quoted 'standard' snacks are: Guacamole, Mexican salsa, Tortilla chips and assorted nuts.

Cost: USD $34 per person

SUNSET Charter with Hamburgers

All the same sack as above
From 3:30pm to 7:30pm

Cost: $38 per person

SUNSET Charter with Lobster or Steak

All the same menu as the morning charter
From 3:30pm to 7:30pm

Cost: $45 per person

All the options above include:

- Beer ( Corona )

- national rum, vodka, tequila

- Sodas: Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite

- Juices: Orange, Pineapple

- Purified water

· All the snorkel gear is provided.

· The tips and transportation are not included. If you need us to provide the round trip transportation, please consider USD 10.00 per person.

· A 30% deposit is required order to book the date, and the balance will have to be paid one week before the event.

· At the following link you could find more images of Catamaya: YouTube - Catamaya Sailing Cruises

The only thing is as you see above it is extra for the transportation. They leave out of puerto morales. I am waiting for our TA to see if maybe there is the same thing local in Playa so we do not have to do the transportation.
Wow they must like you! I was quoted around $80 USD per person or I could charter the whole boat for $4000.

I was told by my wedding coordinator Angie from Condol Villa World that anyone staying at the Royal, Gran Porto or real resort are considered guests since they are staying at the same family chain. A NON-GUest is someone staying at a completly different property. I am confused now that Zulma told you this!

Trust me I am confused too. If you take a look at the very first page of this thread you see some of the past brides talking about getting different charges if you stay at the Royal, if you stay at the Gran and if you are at neither.

I just sent Zulma another email to clarify.

Also I read a few pages back that they are now charging $15USD per guest for any extra hour you go over in the reception? I got my quote back in January 2009 and it says $10USD more per person per hour if I go over the allotted time.

Here is what I have in my quote

•If I want to stay longer at my reception dinner is there an extra charge?

•Yes, 10 USD per person per extra hour. It will include the location, service and open bar. If your wedding is in an external area and you would like to have extra hours later than the time allowed, depending on the availability, we could move the group to the ball room.

I think it would be killer to try to go down this with heels on. There are two wedding sites on the beach...but every entrance to the beach has these slats. Plus manovering the sand in heels would be difficult.
Just my opinion from my experience!
Thanks Maybride :) did you wear flip flops?

You know its funny you say that your not the first to let me know this. So weird, I don't kow if this has anything to do with it but I am Ecuadorian and fluent in Spanish. The speaking Spanish has been a huge help.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
