ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hi Alisha,

To be honest, i found no reviews on my photographer Samual Luna, but he is part of the WPJA - a professional organization of highly talented wedding photosjournalists. I found him on their website, and he has won some awards and has been quick to respond to my emails. So i booked him because of this and because his photos are really beautiful. His style is exactly what I am looking for, artsy and candid! He was in the same listings as Matt adock and sol tamargo from del sol photog so i think he is just as good as them.

best of luck to you and the photog you choose!

Adriana

Depending on what package you pick, I would most definitely recommend booking other outside vendors.

Our package included a musician for the ceremony and the mariachi for dinner so we didn't book 'outside' vendors. If your package doesn't include the musicians, I would not book through the resort. I had read (earlier in this thread, I believe) that the SAME mariachi band could be booked for much less if you do it directly.

Thanks Tighty,

We picked the ultimate and it includes the other musicians. However we went with your recommendation of Ian :) thank you

Also if you don't mind me asking how many people did you have and was the dance floor big enough?

Hi Tighty Whitey -

When you said your ceremony started 15 min late, was that due to the resort error or the minister running late? Or was it you or the groom that were running late? Just curious how often the resorts start the ceremony late?

Thanks!

Adriana

Hi Ladies,

I had posted a new thread about this but than realized I really should have posted it here.

Has anyone planned or is planning on using the hair and makeup service at the salon at The Royal?

It is included in the package that we chose but I hate not being able to have a trial. My biggest fear is that everything would come out horrible and than I would have a melt down.

Hey jesmcan,

we had 31 guests in total and the dance floor we had was perfect in size for our group. I'm sure they can make it bigger if you have a larger guest count.

PS: you're gonna love Ivan!

Hi Adriana,

I honestly don't know why we were delayed. The minister was on time, and I was with my parents, maid of honour, and man of honour in our room waiting for the WC to let us know we can walk out.. I'll ask DH if he knows why there was a hold up.

Hey Jesmcan,

I had my hair and make-up done at the Royal. I was pretty happy with what they did even though it wasn't the look I originally wanted. The weather had a part in making me change my look at the last minute.

My MOH and I both booked trials at the resort salon two days prior to the wedding. I would do the same, if I were you. It wasn't expensive at all and worth it, I think.

One thing I didn't like about my appearance was how 'shiny' I got but that had a lot more to do with the heat than the makeup.

Thanks Tighty...i saw your teaser photos! I love how her pictures are so vibrant! But I wonder about the night time shots. Why do they look so grainy? Is it because there wasn't enough lighting? The black and white shots look great, though. Do all photogs have this problem?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
