ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

If anyone doesn't mind me asking, what are your guests paying approximately for the trip? I've been reading through a lot of the pages and the Royal looks quite amazing but cost is a huge issue with a lot of our guests and we're trying to keep it down as much as possible. We're looking at either a late January or April 2010 wedding. Thanks

Our Photographer, who lives in the area of the hotel, has told us to anticipate the sunset around 7PM. We are having our ceremony at 5PM Cocktails following immediately after, and Reception beginning around 7. I'm wishing I had planned for 4PM for the ceremony...so I think you girls will have made the best choice!

Has anyone else on here commited to the Luxury Package? I'm a bit concerned with what I'm seeing on the Royal site now, with prices and what all is included. For some reason, the price we were quoted a year ago is MORE than what the package is now, and ... we get less stuff...should I be asking about this? Or .... since I leave in a little over a week...just suck it up and forget I even saw the new stuff?

What would you guys do?

Oh fantastic! That totally puts my mind at ease!
I also found out yesterday that they have changed the requirements for getting married. If you have never been married before you now only need your passport, blood tests and arrival thingy from the airport. That totally saved my butt because I got all the wrong paperwork legalized and authenticated...

Yay for 4:00! Thanks Shay that's great. You must be getting nervous, I'm nervous for you! I'm just starting out and catching up on this thread has been NUTS!

Maybride- if you don't mind me asking, I've been married before, do you know if I have to follow all of the old requirements with the birth certificate, etc.?

Exactly...Originally, the package was $2200USD plus minister fees, plus reception fees, yadda yadda.

Then, earlier this year, they increased a lot of their packages significantly...the Luxury went from the $2200 to like...$2900 or something. At that time, I suggested to Micaela, our then coordinator that because of when we confirmed, etc, would they honor the original fee? They agreed to do that.

So currently, we are expected to pay $2200USD plus minister fees, plus reception costs, plus day passes for our photographers/video folks, plus we are paying for the photography itself.

Not only has the package price gone DOWN to $2150 (not a huge difference to the original, I know, but...) it includes:

- Professional Photography & 30 Minutes Editted videography of the ceremony (not that I would change our photographer anyways...but...had I known I'd save so much money...things may have been different)
- Spa Service for the Groom ($100 value)
- Two kinds of live music - a soloist for the ceremony and a full hour set with a trio during the reception (currently, we have only discussed the previously included 45 minute set with a mariachi)
- Reception meal for up to 35 guests for up to 3 hours (currently we're paying $50/head)
- Grooms suit pressing

All of these things were NOT included before...and...I kinda feel on one hand, I shouldn't expect them now, because...that's business....but on the other hand, if I'm going to be paying more now...and missing out on all these "extras"...well, I kinda want the extras!

Am I wrong?

Shay no way are you wrong!! You're spending the money, you should get what is included. I know it's business, but they can't add more things to your package and charge less and expect you not to be upset!! I can't even believe the different packages they have now!! I got an email back in February and didn't even notice all of the different packages they have now.

Thanks for the info and go for what you deserve!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
