ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Thanks Steph, I appreciate it. I'm ok in the here and now but when I start thinking about how long it is till next year I get fussy. I know you are right though!

It is funny because I do really silly things like for example: I work as a paralegal and we have trials scheduled out through 2010 so anytime I set a reminder for a deadline for next May or something I think to myself, oh, It'll be so close then, when I see this reminder come up next year I can think back to how quickly it went by! (Silly I know!)

How is your last minute planning going? Are you still freaking out about job stuff or did things pan out yet? I can't wait till all of you May brides get back with loads of more information to share!

Good luck to all you brides whose weddings are coming up fast, so exciting! I think I managed to figure out the profile pic ting on my own (I'll see when this posts!) and I sorted out the deposit thing with my TA. I'm thinking April 26 2010 for a date but not positive with that date yet......

Happy Wedding Day Tati...my friend. I hope it was all you imagined it to be!!!

As for myself...I'm completely stressing out! LOL

I think we're all set...but, I decided last night that I needed a white or ivory dress to change into in case it was just too hot to dance all night in my wedding dress!

I'm finishing printing all my labels for the OOT bags, and gifts - Pepto, Advil, Pashminas, Name Tags for at the table (affixed to starfish), Maracca tags...I know I'm forgetting some.

I'm working on a Program of sorts to have on our tables for our AHR the weekend after we get back from Mexico.

I'm trying to relax when I can!

The long and short...I'm keeping myself busy with things! LOL

I haven't been asked anything! I've done all the asking, and..."where is my reception going to be held" hasn't been one of them. I've only asked to have it on the beach.

I'm sure it'll all be fine!

Shannon...only 12 days for you...17 for me...OH MY GOD!!!!!

Shay! You will have to give me the scoop! I am having my wedding and reception on the beach and am totally winging it and hoping it will be what I expect. I hope people are respectful and give you and FI some space. So excited for you!

You can count on it.

What day do you leave for Mexico? I will try to give at least one update while I'm actually at the resort...and will check the posts often, cause I'm a total internet addict...and just know that is what I will do each night before bed. (I'll have a laptop, and there is Wireless there...so why not)!?

I can't believe it is just two weeks away!

I found the dress for after the wedding - at night when we're all drinking and its just too hot to wear the wedding dress another second! I got it on sale for $80!!! And its pretty too!!!

I am leaving on the 23rd. So very excited. I LOVE the beach and really wanted my wedding there even though everyone suggests the gazebo..so i am really excited to hear your feedback.
I didn't realize that they have wifi...I will totally be bringing my lap top too!

Hola everyone!!

I just got back and it was amazing! I am swamped with work right now so I will post some pics and a review later, but I wanted to address some of the questions I have seen recently.

The Spazul - When I was there the construction was all going on by the WC's office (which is close to the spa, we had to get to the office from the street entrance) It was not actually going on in the spa. My mother and I had no problems getting our hair done. I do recommend making the appointment before you leave or the day you get there. This is high season for weddings so the appointments book up quickly. If you contact your WC they will book it for you.

Reception Dinner in the restaurants - Due to economic times and my small wedding party, we decided not to spend the extra on the reception dinner and do it at the restaurants. We had no problem doing so, and there were other larger wedding parties doing the same. Just a few pointers.....

If you have people staying in another hotel they can only eat at 2 restaurants, Pelicanos or Asiana, and you will have to pay cash for those people. We had 2 guests staying at another resort so we ate at Asiana, it is a more formal restuarant and the food is excellent! Pelicanos is also good food and is open to the beach if you would like to still have the beach atmosphere.

If your guests are all staying at the Royal the only restaurant that will not accept a large party is Chef's Plate they only do 2-4 people. We saw a few wedding parties eating at Maria Maire. The food there was also very good.

The restaurants were not too busy dring the week..I got marrried on a Thursday...so we did not have a problem getting our party in. However, we did do a farewell lunch on the weekend and the restaurants were much busier! If you are getting married on the weekend I suggest talking to the restaurant a few hours before so they will be prepared and save tables for you.

I know the resort says tips are included in your package, but believe me a tip goes a long way and will get you excellent service! They already have good service, but tips will get you top notch...and they will remember you all week. We tipped all week long.....once we tipped it was mainly the same people taking care of us all week, even when we went to the restaurants they remembered us and waited on us hand and foot.

I know I was very stressed out before I left as most of you know...but once I met with Zulma everything was worked out and all my questions were answered. It all turned out beautiful.

If you have any questions let me know and I will do my best to answer them. You are all going to be glad you picked The Royal!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
