did any of you ladies who have gotten married on the beach and had their reception on the beach - did you have a choice of location on the beach? i heard there are a few spots to have a beach wedding/ceremony. Anyone know of which one is the best spot?

Thanks!

When you get married on the beach basically they will look at your date and tell you what spot are available. I think that there are 3 beach spots, one is in front of the pelicano's restaurant close to the pier, one is center beach and one is the beach in front of the gazebo. When we set our date we got the times that the other weddings were on that day and planned our time and beach according to the other girls so that we weren't getting married at the same exact time. They aren't right next to each other but they are close enough that you can see another if happening at the same time and we just preferred to not have ours starting in the midst of someone else's celebration and vice versa. We are then moving ours to the garden area instead of staying on the beach. Hope this helps!

Oh by the way as far as which is the best spot i think its kinda up to you to be honest, the beach spots are all beautiful. The one in front of the gazebo I believe is the most popular because so many people like to have part of the wedding in the gazebo and that beach is only steps away..

I'm still amazed at how much different information each of us has gotten!

One of my only anxieties about the wedding is...not having asked all the right questions.

We're having our reception on the beach, but never have I been asked or told, which area it would be in...

It's not even that I particularly care that much, but...it'd just be nice to have the same information as everyone else!!!

LOL Anyways...only 26 days until we leave!!! WOO HOO!

I even picked up my wedding dress this weekend. It's officially hanging in my closet! I can't believe it!

Wow congrats on picking up your dress Shay, I am still bummed that I am going to miss you by just one day sad.gif I had my final fitting Saturday which was great because my sister and niece were visiting for my shower which was yesterday. I have such amazing friends, they went all out and it was so special. My friend and fiance actually coordinated to fly and pay for my mom to come in and surprise me at the shower. His mom came too and it was the first time they met so very special weekend in all :)

As far as the information goes on the beaches the only reason that I know this much about the location is because I scouted in person in November. We looked at both the gran and the royal so we walked around to look at the gazebo, the garden, the ballrooms, the beaches etc. When we were talking to Zulma we would say what is available on this day or that day and what times are available etc. etc. thats how we narrowed it down to the date and location. I didn't want to have the reception on the beach simply because it gets so dark that you can't see the ocean at night and with older adults sand is harder to walk on which is why we settled on the garden, problem with that is that you have to be out by 10pm. There are other weddings the same day so we sort of just picked a time that wouldn't interfere but I have a feeling when we get there we may change the time since we can confirm the times of the other weddings.

I don't think you need to worry about it, it sounds like when you get there certain aspects can be switched around and stuff as well fairly easily.

Have you guys picked dinner choices and such already? What are you getting? Are you guys just distributing all the items in suitcases when you travel? What are you using for centerpieces?

I'm really not sure where our reception is going to be either... I asked for a beachfront location, but no idea where!

Lili asked me for my dinner choices last week... I'm keeping it really simple and having the three course menu (the 1st course in the 4 course one is soup and I just think soup in the hot weather sounds yucky...) with the caesar salad, green peppercorn filet and the tres leches cake. I figured that it's simple enough of a menu that even the pickiest eaters (like FI) will eat what they like. I'm on the fence about the tres leches cake though... what do you guys think for a dessert? Note that we decided to nix the wedding cake that's provided in the package- we're having an AMAZING one at the AHR and I've seen so many reviews where it goes to waste, so we decided to cancel it!

I tried and tried to be crafty, but it really didn't work out. The few things we're bringing will fit in our 2 suitcases. I want to do a Planning Thread, but it's so LAME compared to some of the ones here!

We decided to upgrade to the chuppa for an extra $300 and I've asked Lili to use the flowers/linens that are part of the upgrade for our decorations at the reception. Didn't seem to have any problems there! Makes it worth the extra $$$ to me to be able to use it twice!

Shay, to answer your questions, we're not upgrading the dance floor- FI thinks the light up one is cheesy (but I love it!) in a Saturday Night Fever kind of way and we're just loading up our Ipods. My sister is one of those people that needs to have a task to stay happy, so she's going to be our unofficial DJ for the night! PS- Congrats on picking up the dress! It's an awesome feeling, isn't it?!?!?

Now, I have to ask... do you guys have any ideas on if/what you're going to tip the WC? I thought about bringing her a nice present, but I'm not sure.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
