Yes our weddings are 2 days apart! How exciting...we should get together for a pre wedding drink!

Thanks for the info. I also emailed my photog to see what she thinks. The pictures are really important to me, but I really want a beach reception so I am still thinking about the garden...not sure yet.

I just wanted to vent a bit... wink.gif

I sent out my Save the Dates to everyone in February...asking them to check out my website and to get back to me there with a tentative reply as I was looking for some tentative numbers to help me decide where I was going to go. The Royal's wedding package seems to be more than some of the other hotels, but we love it and want to go there. But if everyone planned on coming (even half the people) then it might have gotten too much for our budget. Anyways... hardly anyone has been to the website and replied! grrrrrrrr!

I'm taking that to mean that they probably aren't coming, so FI and I have decided that we will just go ahead with the Royal. So that is good! I love the whole set up there! We are tentatively confirmed for December 2, 2009. Now I guess I just have to put down the $300 deposit.

I can't wait to hear all of your reports when you get back since there are quite a few of you ahead of me!

Thanks for the vent! muscle.gif

I completely understand!!! I sent out about 40 STD's and I referred to my website where people can RSVP etc. And although I didn't tell people I wanted to know now, I haven't really gotten any responses. I figured I would at least get phone calls from grandparents and aunts or something. No one is signing the guest book even! I am having my own pitty party these days. I keep telling myself that I knew going into this that I had to be okay with whoever and however many people came, even if it was just the two of us-because it was what I wanted.

By the way, I paid my $300 with my bank card and due to the exchange rate I was only charged $277. Not much savings but an unexpected surprise. Also, it took them like a month to do the charge and I had to bug them with a few emails to get it done.

Same thing happened to me. We sent out our STDs way back in November. Very few people bothered to check out our website. Now that they're looking at booking tickets, I'm getting a bunch of calls and emails asking for info I've already provided for them... Makes me want to shots.gif

Hey there venting brides to be :)

I just wanted to let you know that I completely understand and unfortunately I think that it is just the way that it is, people don't realize how much effort and love you put into the save the dates or that you would love to hear that they received them. I had the same thing happen to me, somehow I expected everyone to call and tell me how excited they are and how wonderful my resort looks etc. etc. and it just never really happened. I got a few calls but those were from the parents. Your wedding is so far away too that I just don't think that people can realistically tell you that they are coming yet (unless its part of your closest crowd). We always thought we'd have about 70 people and then we started speaking to people and everyone said they were coming so we thought my goodness we could end up with closer to 90!! In the end we are still waiting for responses but it looks like we are going to have about 50 in total. I guess it depends on your people and their situation but it really is a lot to ask for people to fly to a destination in these difficult times. I also think that the people sometimes aren't saying anything because they feel bad that they aren't going to make it and part of them hopes that somehow they will. I know for us people really wanted to come but just can't.....

Steph - I'm sure it's just because he's a guy hence the STD being on his coffee table. I'm sure half of our guy friends have already lost their STDs.. even though it's a freaking magnet.

To the other ladies, I honestly think some people haven't gone onto your websites to RSVP because maybe many guests are probably older and are not that computer literate. You'd be surprised! That being said i'm sure everything will work out as the wedding get's closer.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
