ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hi gals!

Just wanted to pop by to say hi. I know it's been awhile since I've checked in. We've postponed our wedding plans for awhile mainly due to economic reasons. I'm sure many of you can relate! I'd really like to have a full time job and my debt paid off first!

There are so many of you pretty much ready to go now! How exciting!!! Oh, and I can't believe Michaela is leaving! Anyone know why? But, it sounds like you'll be in good hands with the new gal. Can't wait to see all the pics of all the upcoming weddings!!! We're still planning on The Royal...it's just a ways off now! LOL Congrats everyone!!!

Oscar Ernie- I am so sorry to hear that. I live paycheck to paycheck and I'm not even sure how to pull this off considering I have a hard time paying the bills every month anyways! I feel your pain, I hope you don't have to wait long, I know how anxious I am, keep us updated when you pick a new date.

Thanks for the websites girls! I did start mine on mywedding.com and I am just looking for ideas now to fill in stuff for attractions and local stuff so my guests have everything- thanks!

Now if I could just figure out what photographer to use, this feels like a bigger decision than the resort was! I majored in photography before changing my major in college and photography has always been so important to me. My FI offered to get a second job to pay for Elizabeth Medina! I thought that was sweet but there is no way I will let him do that!

I'm still waiting to hear from my new WC about that. I had emailed Micaela a list of questions before Christmas, and never heard anything back until her departure email. Hopefully Lili is able to respond soon...cause it DOES affect the budget everytime we have to add something here or there...so...though I appreciate Southern Time, I also hope it is reciprocated a little on their end!

Other than that...I'm basically freaking out because my dress finally arrived...and I go for my first fitting on the 21st. Let me just say I HATE MY ARMS smile35.gif...I have accomplished a great weight loss over the last little while (a total of 92 pounds - I can't even believe it), and am left with ... skin. I'm so afraid I am going to ruin our pictures...and I usually have it together, but today, I'm... a wreck. I'm SO excited I found a beautiful dress that I genuinely felt good in...and I've even lost a bit more since I bought the dress in July....I just...don't know.

I've read the forums...but anyone know some great exercises to help tighten upper arms?

Sorry to unload girls...and sorry this was SOOO off topic. Feel free to hijack it back from me! cheesy.gifshots.gif

Steph,

I just wanted to mention again, I am using PlayaWeddings(.com) and I'm very excited. Their website isn't updated to the public that regularly, but...just their few wedding shots posted, I can tell Rachel has a style that I really love. If I have to compare her to anyone (though I think she is unique in her own right), I'd have to compare her artsy style to that of Elizabeth Medina....only...her prices are WAY friendlier on the pocket. It's just a thought...and of course, I haven't experienced our day with them yet, but...I assure you I will keep you posted, and let you know how everything goes.

The husband of the duo is a very highly regarded videographer on the forum - Paul Schrank. I'm going to be emailing them tonight about whether he is available our day now too, and have him do video for us...I have decided I just cannot live without my own music video!

Lifting weights or anything like that will be boring. Seen it time and time again.

Give boxing a try. Take privates with a trainer or take a boxercise class. I do mixed martial arts as a hobby and I have seen MANY girls with the same minor issue and it is fixed along with a balanced and healthy diet of course :)

If you are not into that try dance.

Shay- Oh hun, I'm sorry you are so down today- vent away! But wow! What an accomplishment, you should be nothing but proud of yourself! And I don't think you are going to ruin your pictures and I certainly doubt that your FI will think that either! If you want, send me a picture, I'll give you my honest opinion. I am trying to lose a lot of weight over the next year before my wedding, somehow I don't I will look the way I want though. I have a visions of me telling the photographer to try and not take pictures or redirect me beforehand if he sees a double chin or my batwings in the camera lense!

My FI and I are trying to go to the gym now and they do have lots of different weight machines to work each muscle group in your upper arms... so that is what I am doing. (Along with cardio and trying to get rid of the lovely tummy that I just keep trying to tell myself was from being pregnant with my kids (5 and 8 years ago)... guess that excuse doesn't work anymore...

Although its not for everyone, I began losing weight when I changed my lifestyle to a low card diet plan and started doing pilates/yoga. I had stalled for about a year after losing 70 pounds, but recently, we purchased a Wii Fit (after Christmas when we got a Wii!)...since returning home from the holiday travels...I have lost another 20+ pounds! I'm tightening up in all areas EXCEPT my upper arms. I was 250+ pounds when I started Atkins three years ago, and when I dropped the weight quickly then, I did little exercise, and was left with some...problem areas. My upper arms being the most troublesome.

I just don't know, without surgery, if there is anything I can really do to trim the "bat wing"...and its a serious bat wing!!

When I go for my fitting...I'll have pictures taken, and I'll post them just for you guys (although in my original trial pics with my dress, you can see them there)!...For some reason...it feels more like sharing with just a group of friends, rather than a whole platform of people!

I'm lifting light weights (every second evening), doing the Yoga and Strength Training activities on Wii Fit (on opposite nights), eating sensibly (what works for me), drinking lots of water, and I walk to and from work everyday. I'm active...I'm just...discouraged today!

So thank you both for your support. It means a lot to me!

Shay! GREAT JOB! As for the arms, I know you're going to think I'm crazy, but have you see the perfect push-up?? My father always said the best exercise for the arms is the push-up and it tones the upper body and back. It's great because it can tone your arms fairly quickly and it's something you can do anywhere.

I also forgot to mention that I've been emailing with Lili at The Royal and she has been GREAT! She's gotten back to me in less than 24 hours and has answered all of my questions, so for any of you that were working with someone else, be assured that she's going to be great. She's the only one I've spoken to, so I can't compare her to Zulma or Micala, but she's been very thourough so far and very nice.

Shay, You should be SO proud of yourself! Your weightloss story is so impressive. I have to agree with Lexi, push-ups are great for arms, shoulders, and back.

Here's some interesting info. I received a frantic call from my TA yesterday saying that my FI and I still owe money. I didn't realize that we had to pay for our entire wedding package by February 2nd. Our wedding is on March 20th. We paid our $300 deposit back in November. Now, we are sending another $900 to VillaWorld for the rest of our wedding.(We pay for extras when we get to Mexico.) I didn't know if everyone was aware of this policy. We certainly were not.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
