ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Tati- Thanks for pointing out that picture! It is beautiful. Shay- Thanks for all you do, and all your helpful information.

iStephIez & Others: Don't freak out! :) My wedding is 45 days away, and I don't know what the gazzebo will look like, what flowers I'll use, or what the reception will be like. I have read every post on this thread and here's what I've gathered: The Royal WCs are brilliant. They are professional and super-experienced. They have made thousands of brides' dreams come true. Many of your wedding plans will be made days before your big day. And, I have yet to find any negative review regarding a Royal PDC wedding.

The WCs are not overly quick to respond. But, from what I've read, they will take care of you. Remember: they are not in the U.S. or Canada. They are in Mexico, and business is handled in a different manner. The idea of relaxation in a small beach village is exactly what I wanted for my wedding. It is what makes Mexico so alluring.

Here's to warm weather and margaritas!

Thank you Veronica...for brining us all back to relaxation and margaritas land! You hit the nail on the head...they work on a different time line than us. And..honestly...I appreciate that...cause although I want everything right NOW...I'm learning that having that ... makes the time go faster...and I want to savor every last moment!

Cheers girls!

Shay - Since our weddings are a day apart, we should meet and have a drink. We arrive on the 1st and leave for Cancun on the 8th until the 11th.

Also, off the subject, does anyone know if our birth certificates have to be translated BEFORE we arrive in Mexico? We are having a legal ceremony, and are we getting our documents apostilled at home, but we are unsure if they get translated in Playa or we have to do that ourselves. Thanks for the help!! I know if I emailed Zulma with my question, it would take forever for a response.

Veronica and all

You are correct about the WC down there. I met with them and have only heard fabulous things. I think that the way the hotel is set up it simply makes it impossible for them to do their jobs thoroughly on the day to day with all the brides planning their weddings. If you think about it they have 2 or 3 coordinators and can average 2 weddings per day. They also have all of us who are trying to plan their upcoming weddings which could be an entire year or more away who are constantly e-mailing them our questions. (and we basically all have the same questions :) Then they have all the other gazillion brides who are considering getting married there and they have to get back to them too!! I think its impossible to do what they do in a timely manner so I don't blame them for the slowness. I am not worried about the set ups and good and such as its what they do and they do it the best I am more concerned with the questions that we have that make us make our decisions properly. For example, we want to get married legally but want to change our ceremony which is not allowed. We now are hoping to have a legal ceremony in the afternoon before pictures and then do our ceremony with a friend. We can't get confirmation of this from them so its all up in the air.....I agree they will make everyone feel better once you get there and they can likely make most requests as far as decor happen when you arrive before the wedding. I just think its hard to plan and budget without having it all laid out. Budget is a huge factor for me in what I can and can not do so its hard to know the budget without some of the specifics laid out in front of me!!

I am so bummed, it seems I am missing both Shay and Shannon by just one day sad.gif

Can't wait to hear everyones reviews and see the photos.

Did anyone hire their videographer yet and if so who did you book? I am bringing a photographer with me so just need video locally.....

istephiez - I am so in the same boat as you! I can't plan anything until I know all of my answers to my questions because my budget is so tight that if something isn't certain it could screw up a lot! I am struggling just to get confirmation on my date! I have told myself and others, like my FI who doesn't understand what is taking so long, the very same thing you are talking about (that they do 2 or more weddings a day and have all these brides, so of course my wedding that is over a year away is not a priority!) But that doesn't make me feel any better.

I am so glad I found this forum and have you girls (and guy) to talk to because I would just be a horrible mess! Now if I could just get the damn date set I would be happy because I could pass the time between emails doing my STD's or other stuff!

ho hum.... I am so cranky!

Thanks for venting and letting me vent!

istephiez- by the way, I am looking at Claudia Rodriguez for a photographer and her hunband (Mike Cantarell) does video and is very good! At this point I am going with them, I can't afford Elizabeth Medina (which I would saw off my right leg and hop down the aisle to have as my photographer!)

Also looked at playaweddings.com (Paul) for video. I like him too.

Hey ladies, lone guy here....I sent my down payment electronically on January 22 but didn't receive any reply. After a week I contacted the Real Resort number in the United States. They straightened things out and Zulma contacted me within 2 days.

I know they are swamped because even when I call Zulma there are other brides to be in her office talking her ear off and I get put on hold for minutes at a time eating up my phone card.

Anyway my date is set for January 19, 2010. Now I am just waiting for confirmation from the Chapel to see if they got my money. They haven't responded yet either lol. I guess I am getting used to this.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
