ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Well boy do I have a lot of reading to do!!

I'm hoping to have my wedding at The Royal May 2010. I might be a bit early to start planning, but I really want to be prepared!!

We went to The Royal last May and it was GREAT! We loved the service, food, atmosphere, everything! We didn't know at the time that we wanted to get married there, only after our visit did we choose there. From the looks of this thread everyone here knows a lot about it there, so I hope to learn how the wedding planning has gone.

Hi Steph and Welcome!

Isn't this site the best? My wedding is on March 20th (whoa!) and 90% of everything I'm doing is inspired by this forum. You may have alredy PMed Shay, but I also have several documents from the Royal. PM me if you need anything.

I have a question of my own: are any of you having your reception w/out a DJ? We were considering just using an iPod with our fave dance music. Does anyone know how that works?

EmenGeeRoxx- No fee for outside musicians? That's awesome! I guess I should email Zulma to get it "on the record". I really want mariachis.

We depart for Playa in 47 days! OMG!! I'm getting so excited!

Veronica- Yes Shay is such a Rockstar she emailed me several things! I would like to know if anyone has pictures and prices of anything other than the "standard" wedding cake? It's a little plain for me, cute, but would like something just a little more, even if it were 2 tier instead of one.

Also, does the Royal provide any decoration options for the gazebo? Even at a charge do they have anything? I saw a picture on their website with white linens curtained back between the polls, it was pretty.

More imporant question, my TA contacted villaworld (suppose to be the corporate office for The Royal) and talked with a gal named Angie here in the States, instead of the WC at the resort. She is suppose to be able to confirm my wedding date etc. Does this sound right? Anyone else go through The Royal like this? She did say however that I can have my outside vendor (photographer) for the $100 fee! So I am very excited about that. Told my TA to get it in writing!! lol.

Hi there

Great e-mail you sent to everyone and congratulations to you! If you get some of the documents from the girls with regards to cakes and such can you forward to me? I also don't have these documents! As for the photographer we are likely bringing one from the states and per Zulma last week she said the $100 fee is waived if they are staying at the hotel for the wedding. my e-mail is stephanieziebarth@yahoo.com

VeronicaLane,

I am going to do the same thing with the Ipod setup. I'm curious how it logistically all works out myself! Sounds like a great way to save some cash, though! It must be so exiting to be SO close!

Istephiez,

My photog is a guest also- I LOVE not having to pay the fee! Woo hoo!

Hey girls!

I am also planning a wedding at the Royal for June 20, 2009. Would anyone mind emailing me any info they have or pictures they have received from the wedding coordinators. My email is: khowell15@gmail.com. I was really interested in seeing the cake options and menus if anyone has those.

So far, I have had very little interaction with the wedding coordinators. I was initially in contact with Doreen and Angie from CondoVilla World. This whole process has truly been interesting for me. After setting up the contract, putting down a deposit, and booking our trips, plus our families booking their entire trip down to Mexico, when I first contacted the wedding coordinators to introduce myself they emailed me back to tell me that I was not booked and that June 20th was full. I had a mini panic attack and sent numerous emails. I had heard nothing back for days so I had to call Doreen/Angie to get them to call the wedding coordinators and figure out the problem. I eventually got emails back from the wedding coordinators and their boss apologizing for the miscommunication and that I did have the June 20th date. So, yeah, communication can be limited and even difficult.

I was also told about the $100 fee for outside photographer but not for outside musicians. I've been working with Ajua Weddings to hire a mariachi band which is saving me money vs using the resorts mariachi group. Hope that helps.

Kate, I will send you the emails of attachments that I have, I don't have pictures of cake options (which I am hoping to get from someone as well) but I have other stuff.

I have only been in contact with Angie too, through my TA, so thanks for that bit of info, I will make sure they communicate my date with the WC.

Does anyone know if I book a 2010 wedding now, would I be locked into 2009 prices??

I know I'm a bit early to plan, but I'm just starting. I don't have anything yet!! I'd love to have any documents emailed to me as well (jessieb578@yahoo.com). I don't know if the prices will change or not, but I would still like to see any choices that are available.

I have to admit, I'm a part time cake decorator and I haven't seen a nice cake yet from The Royal. I'm a bit of a cake snob and I'd like to have something nice. Any ideas??

I'm so glad to find you gals!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
