ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies! I haven't posted in a while. My wedding is in April and we are having our wedding and reception at Xcaret. BUT we are all going to be staying at the Royal. We are having a happy hour with appetizers at the Royal Thursday night. Have any of you tasted the appetizers there? Do you have any recommendations or things to avoid? Just needed some input.

Thank you Katy...everything was like a dream! Gorgeous. Can we ask how much the video coverage was through Cancun Wedding? (Is that the company name?!)

Hi Ladies and Groom!

Wow! So I just spent the last 2 days reading all 68 pages of this thread and I must say, holy cow! That took forever! But now I really feel like I know each one of you, which is very cool! So I feel like I should share a little about me!

I was referred to this site by Jentwo. I met Jen on trip advisor and she has just been the best thing! (shout out to Jen if you are still checking this site!)My fiance Michael and I are planning to get married at The Royal, we are just at the beginning stages of planning, (I'm sure you all remember how that felt!) where I am overly excited and can't possibly get enough information and dying to start planning! We are hoping for a June 2010 date but have not heard back from the WC yet. (No surrpise there). We are working with a travel agent and she is going to try and get some communication going.

So many of my questions were answered from reading and from Jen but I am still shady on the No outside vendors policy. I have read how some of you gals got them to allow it with a $100 per person fee. I am willing to pay that but will they allow it still? If not it may be a deal breaker for me, photos are the most important thing for me!

Also, I was planning to marry legal/civil ceremony but it sounds as if you can't do the sand ceremony or write your own vows with that?

And after reading this site I don't know where to have my ceremony now! I was going to to the beach- no hesitation there- unitl I read on here about the privacy issues! No I am so confused! What's a girl to do! I am from Iowa, a beach wedding means getting your feet in the sand and out of the snow!

I will stop rambling now, but I just wanted to introduce myself and hope that any brides left on this thread will help me out along the way too!

By the way, if anyone has the attachments that Zulma sent, for cakes, flowers, ceremony site pictures or anything else I would be forever grateful if you could email them to me, I can PM whomever has that stuff with my email addy. I do have the "funever" photo stuff (which I hope I won't need).

Ok, I just read back over that, sorry it was so darn long!

Stephanie

From what I understand, if you had a contract initiated with the hotel/WC before the "Big Rules" came out...then the $100 fee applied to you...now...AFTER the big rules...I'm not so sure. All you can do is talk to your WC, when she finally gets a hold of you, and ask the question.

You CAN partake in these things...only with a Civil ceremony, my understanding is that you can only do them AFTER the minister/judge leaves. You would have to have a friend or family member introduce them and they could do any readings for you, etc. The minister just cannot be involved.

You can PM me if you'd like. I can forward you lots of stuff! haha. Just let me know!

Good luck, and remember to just be patient with the WCs, and...have fun! cheesy.gif

Congratulations!

As of January 12, 2009, Zulma just said any outside videographers and photographers require YOU to pay $100 for each of them. Everything else seemed to be ok. I am bringing in a salsa band with 8+ people and she said that was cool.

These were my questions to Zulma

1. In the FAQ I cannot find the policy for an outside photographer. I was thinking of hiring my own photographer

I want to know the cost of bringing them in.

2. I don't see an option for a salsa band in your wedding checklist. I just see mariachi trio, DJ, saxophonist, violinist, guitar player, NO salsa band. How much to bring Balance La Banda in to the resort?

Zulma's response

"Hello, the cost for an out side photographer is 100usd, the external music doesn’t have fee for bringing theme to the hotel."

Shay- Thanks so much, I will send you a message! I am just so anxious to see everything!

Anyone know what time the sun sets in June in Mexico? Trying to figure out when to do my ceremony. I know from reading on here that it is like 5:30 in November, but surely June would be much later?

Also, I am going to do my own STD cards and was wondering if anyone could recomend any suggestions for websites or programs that would be cheap?!

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
