You looked amazing and the video was outrageous!

Hi Everyone,

It has been about a month since I stumbled on this forum, and I have to say that it has become an obsession! Can anyone lead me to the basics of BDW (point system, etc.)?

Also, Shay- Did you ever see a picture of the standard Royal cake? Did you find out about the pros/cons of using an iPod rather than a DJ.

I feel nervous that I haven't had ANY communication with my Royal WC, Zulma. My wedding is March 20th! Does anyone have her contact info?

Thanks so much!

I think if you look at the home page, you should be able to find some answers here:

I have actually now seen the "standard" cake, and I think its lovely! I'm just excited to have one there at all...and the standard is cute. It's definitely not extravagant...but I like that! cheesy.gif If you need a visual, I can email you what I have!

Try not to feel stressed about this. Honestly...what you should do while you wait to hear from your wedding coordinator, besides asking the recent brides here things, is to start compiling a list of things you'd like answers to, or confirmations of. 90% of the day, from what I've heard and been told, happens when you arrive in Mexico, all the planning, the finalizing...etc.

The only thing my WC told me she needed to know a little in advance, is if we wanted orchids or calla lilies for the bouquets...she would need to order those.

Even the color of fabric for our Chuppa, won't be finalized until we arrive in Mexico...so...though it IS nice to hear from them, really, as long as you stay organized here, you're still making headway in the planning! Plus if you have a list of questions, when you do hear from Zulma, you won't forget anything, and get it all taken care of in one go!

A oouple of different questions out there I'll try to address....

Photos: I don't have any other threads to suggest (I typically just did a search on Royal Playa Del Carmen) but I do have some websites I bookmarked that were of other brides at the Royals if you're looking for photos.

1.) Elizabeth Medina Photography Blog Archive Lysiane and Francisco, Gazebo Wedding at the Royal Resort and Spa, Playa del Carmen, Mexico

2) del Sol Photography Wedding Photojournalism

3) del Sol Photography Wedding Photojournalism

Zulma: I didn't work with Zulma but have her email: zdominguez2@realresorts.com

Best destination wedding forum points: points are accrued for viewing threads and posting. You can steal them from people or they can donate them. I can't imagine ever stealing but I think I remember it was an option! If someone needs points let me know, I probably won't use much of mine and I have a ton!

Wow! Thanks Shay and Jentwo! I just did a little research and found the FAQ. Now, I understand the point system (i.e., why I can't open attachments). ;-)

I have also been so inspired by other Royal brides (Heidi, Antonia, Katy, Jentwo, Geminie). This forum has been a true lifesaver!

I booked Cecilia Dumas yesterday because of her amazing reviews on this website. I also received (in the mail) my OOT bags from Cheaptotes, my cake boxes, etc. As you can see, BDW has been my "How To" Guide for my wedding. LOL.

Thanks again, Ladies for all your help!

OH my god, I totally know what you mean! I always knew I wanted to get married...only...until BDW...had NO idea how to actually plan one!

Thank goodness for you girls!

Also, should I email Zulma to reserve my preferred location for the ceremony and reception? What if there is another wedding on my date? I don't want to be stuck in the ballroom, when I prefer the beach for my reception.

Also, does anyone know the advantage/disadvantage for having a cocktail reception between the ceremony and the reception? Would it me less expensive and easier to have guests meet in of the Royal bars?

Shay, I would LOVE to see pics of the cake. Should I PM you my email address? Also, have you chosen your reception menu?

Hey,

Nailing down your date, time and location are the only things I would try to get cleared up right away...if you haven't heard about those yet, then yes, sorry, I would continue to try to contact Zulma.

Please PM your email addy, and I will send you the cake pic, along with anything else you'd like and don't already have. Yes, we have picked our reception dinner AND the hors d'oeuvres for our cocktail hour in-between (and our cake selection)!

I think, but I could be wrong, you will be billed, regardless of whether you have your cocktails inside at the bar or seperately with a more formal cocktail hour. I believe it charged on a Per Person basis, and the location doesn't really matter. Someone with actual experience on this matter (!) will chime in I'm sure!

Hey Girls,

I first wanted to that Geminie and Jentwo for the reviews! I love hearing about your experiences. Geminie your wedding video was really beautiful. Jentwo I love all the little items that you used for your OOT bag and i even saved your templates for the broading passes. Also, about the dance floor we got it ordered thru our Dj Mannia. The Royal didn't provide me with the list of preferred vendors. I wonder if i could've gotten the floor for free with the Royalhuh.gif? Does anyone here have this list? THANK YOU again for sharing your stories with us!!! smile159.gif

After reading your reviews I dont know what to do about the ceremony. I was planning on having the ceremony at the beach but I dont want people in their bathing suits in the background. I dont know what to do.

Shay... can you please email me the picture of the cake too. I will PM you my email address. Also, with the chuppah. I know that they have a wooden bamboo chuppah that is avaliable. Do you think that they will have fabric for it? I was thinking that I would need to buy my ownhuh.gif I will also be there in May and have my ceremony time as 5:30. I dont know if thats too late... hmmmm. Also, I believe that you are Jewish if you are having a chuppah (might be wrong). If you are what ceremony option did you choose? Also, are you have a rabbi come there?

I also wanted to ask you ladies about the menu options. Do i have to choose the same menu for everyone or do I choose my three top options and then my guests can choose when they get therehuh.gif Zulma did not make that point really clear to me.

Ladies, I have realized one thing. If you need to get an answer from Zulma you need to demand it. I tried being nice thru my emails and got nothing back. I told my TA agent about it and she wrote her. She told her that she needs a response asap and understands that she is busy but she needs to focus on all her clients. We got a response within a couple of hours!!! So far the only thing that I have confirmed is the date, time, and locations for the events.

VeronicaLane, if you would like PM me your email address and I will email you a list of attachments that Zulma sent out in November. It has menus, flower options, FAQ's, and a lot more information.

Sorry for the extra long post....Hope I didnt put everyone to sleep.

Hi everyone-

We are back and all I can say is that it was a fairytale. I just did my wedding review...here is the link.

http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t33274

Thank you to everyone for your well wished while we were gone. Please PM me if you have any specific questions. I'm sure you've seen our little puppy Bentley, in my picture...well he died suddently this week and I can't tell you the overwhelming grief we are feeling. Writing this review is the first productive thing I've done in two days. I may be a little slow getting back to you for a few days and I probably won't be checking this site too often, but I will get back to it eventually. They say time heals, but we feel like we lost our child. I am so thankful Steve and I have each other. In the end, after all the wedding festivities, it is the marriage that is the most important part!

All the best,

Katy

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
