Do you have the prices for the Funever? I might get them to do just the ceremony or something...

Shay - I actually have 2008 rates.. 2009 prices might be higher. The list I have offers 1:15 hrs for $390, 3 hrs for $550, and 6 hrs for $790. Fairly reasonable compared to other rates I've seen.. though I'd still like to get a sense of the video quality. If it's not great.. I might as well have a friend or family member video tape. I agree slide shows are great, but I too would like to capture more of the day on live footage.

While we're on the topic of videos.. i came across a really cool trash the dress video on the forum.. thought i'd share with you guys. I wish I could afford something like this!

Hi Shay,

I've attached the 2009 price list. We're torn about hiring a videographer too. Do any former brides have input or suggestions? Is it worth it?

Also, we found out that our WC is Zulma. Does anyone have her information? Also, does anyone have suggestions on mariachis to hire? Should I go through the RPDC or through another vendor?

Thanks,

V.

THANK YOU!!

Yah...$500US for an hour of video...CRAP! The more I think about it, the more I would like video...but honestly...for $500...I think I'll just try to rig my little HD camcorder on a tripod...hook up a Mic...and hope it turns out! cheesy.gif LOL

I think since the Canadian dollar starting falling again, and all of our wedding stuff in Mexico is now costing us about 30% MORE than it was a month ago...I'm going to try to save EVERYWHERE I can!

FYI: We are using the Mariachi Band associated with RPDC. I've heard good things!

Hi Ladies! I am so excited to find someone else who is getting married at the Gran Porto! We really wanted the Royal but I have family with small children and my dad is coming in from Afghanistan so I really didn't want to be away from everyone after they made the trip for us.

I have been reading and can't get off the computer now!

We are currently working w/ Laura. I sent her my $300 deposit (via credit card authorization form) and she told me that I will have to make 2 more payments...one in 30 days and another in 60 days. Maybe she is just more strict b/c she is the wedding manager...

Pics-who is this Rachel person? Does she have a website? I love Elizabeth Medina, but she is pricey. I will have about 40 people at my wedding, so I will already be spending a lot of money on food, etc...

Food-Can you guys recommend a menu for the 3 course dinner? We wanted buffet style, but I think you have to have 50+ people for that.

DJ-the DJ that is provided by RPDC...has anyone used them? If so, who was it and how was the music?

Has anyone been to RPDC in October? I am wondering what the weather will be like there. I live in Louisiana and it is 40 degrees here right now...

I am also interested in finding out about a DJ? I am having a bunch of friends coming and definitely want everyone to have a goodtime and I feel like the music will make the difference.
Any suggestions?

Dcheung,

In regards to your FunEver question...from the research I have done:

FunEver basically contracts out photographers, they do not have 1 or 2 specific photographers...I think one that they use is Vanessa Vargas. I think you can google her name and her website will come up...I think I may use her...I LOVE Elizabeth Medina, but she is a bit pricey. I have also heard that it is cheaper to book Vargas through the resort.

I hope this helps.

If you do a search on the forum, you will find out that Vanessa Vargas (amazing, yes), no longer works with FunEver. She is on "her own" now...doing the solo thing.

I cannot find any up to date information on who FunEver has contracted now.

Just FYI!

Thanks Tracey.. actually I already booked Elizabeth Medina for photography. Her work is really amazing.. definitely pricier that average but I know it'll be worth it! I'm trying to find out who FunEver will be contracting for videography.. so far, I haven't seen anything on the forum... :oT

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
