Recommended Posts

WOW! So, again i haven't been on here in ages...I am so glad I booked back in Jan. before all these "rules" took into effect!

Shay - it made me feel better to hear you haven't sent a deposit yet...b/c our weddings are a week apart and i haven't paid for anything yet. (which i know is fine but still makes me nervous!) i email Micaela every once in a while to make sure she hasn't forgotten about me - hahaha!!!!!!

Also Shay have you ordered your wedding invitations yet? I haven't! Is that badhuh.gif??

I am working on ordering bridesmaids dresses and looking into invitations this week.

Hey Shannon,

Speaking of deposits, I actually got an email from Micaela this weekend, that stated ALL brides, newly booked or previously booked, HAVE to pay a $300 deposit (non-refundable but to be applied to your balance) to reserve your space. The payment must be received prior to December 31, 2008. I had inquired about payment, after all the talk on here, last week, and that is the email I got back...so I'm not sure if you will have received it or not! Just a heads up though! I will be sending my credit card info to her today!

I have done my invitations and have been assembling them over the last week! My FI and I designed them (nothing too fancy), but they are US! I'm completely neurotic, so they were ready to go basically two months ago, but...I'm just getting around to assembling them now.

This last week, my MOH was in town, so we went dress shopping and found hers! It's ordered and should be here in 3 months.

I think we've basically got it all done (AND we're planning a big AHR too, and that is basically planned)! haha...oh god...cheesy.gif

If you have anymore questions, lemme know! I still hope we can arrange a drink or two Shannon! cheesy.gif

Katy- your planning thread was FANTASTIC! Thank you so much for sharing!

Shay- now I'm worried! I haven't gotten anything from Micaela about a deposit! It's not a big deal, but I hate that the story changes from one bride to the other when we ask for information from them! smile105.gif

I'm at a little bit of a lull in planning. The only BIG thing I have left is shopping for my dress (I know I'm doing things a little backwards), but that's actually being taken care of tonight!

I was planning on having my invitations (bought, just not printed/assembled yet) be the invite to the AHR- what are you guys doing? I was hoping the STD would get everyone going on setting up their travel arrangements!

I wouldn't worry too much...going back to how they all run on Southern time (!), I think this is a prime example of that.

I really think, if you haven't received anything, then...they don't expect anything. It's like if you email about it, then they figure they'll ask you for it!

They aren't going to let you get all the way down there misinformed. Honestly, if you haven't been asked, you either will be soon, or they'll just get you when you're there! cheesy.gif

For the STDs, I did boarding passes for our very small group (only 10 people + FI and me)...but...but for the invitations, those are for the AHR, all 180 of them!

I also just received an e-mail from Laura asking me for a $300 deposit (she took over my wedding planning from Zulma).

Speaking of AHR's How are you all doing yours? I have pretty much everything planned, but am still trying to decide on some things. Are you wearing your wedding dress or something else? I think I am going to wear my dress, I guess it seems kind of strange because my reception is a month after Mexico. I was thinking of doing a reading of vows or something since 95% of are not going to Mexico, but not sure. I was just kind of curious as to what events other people were planning at their receptions.

I feel so far behind on all this planning...It doesn't help that I am in Alabama, my reception is in Indiana, and the wedding is in Mexico.......stressful!!

Thanks!!

For our AHR, we're basically doing EVERYTHING we'd do at a traditional wedding (cake cutting, first dance, wedding attire, toasts, etc), but No formal ceremony reading or anything like that.

We're having a plated sit down dinner and we're hosting a Old Hollywood/Movie theme! We're going to give out "Best Photography" (Uncle), "Best Director" (Cousin - MC), "Best Soundtrack" (Cousin - DJ)...and a full red carpet with photo ops will be available!

Should be fun!

Good luck with your planning! Sounds like you've taken on a handful!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
