ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

Well, I got my wedding date moved to April 16th so that I am there 3 days before the ceremony....Thanks for the info. shay!!

Does anyone have any opinion on the mariachi band? I am having a small ceremony...approx 10 guests. I'm not sure if that would be too much for such a small group.

One more question.....sorry!! Has anyone heard of or used Shasa Gluck Photography? He has been quick to get back with me and his prices are reasonable. I just haven't heard his name mentioned before and was hoping someone had some info.

Did anyone arrange for group activities when guests arrived? Any recommendations? I'm thinking of doing a welcome cocktail cruise and maybe a tour of Tulum for whoever stays after the wedding. Any recommendation of company's or vendors that handle this type of thing?
When we were at the Royal in 2005, we went to Cozumel, Xel-Ha, Isla Mujeres Catameran tour and Cancun. We had so much fun in Cozumel. We took the ferry over in the morning - I think it was about $18.00. When we got there we rented a couple jeeps ($65 US for the day, but can be split 4 ways) or mopeds. Then we drove around the island. There were lots of other tourists doing the same thing. There is a couple of snorkeling/scuba parks along the way which are neat. Then we caught the ferry back around 5pm. We've been told that you can now rent Polaris Razors UTVs.
The Isla Mujeres Catameran tour was awesome too. We bought it out of the lobby of the Gran Porto Real. We took a bus to Cancun, then the boat to the private part of the island. There was a huge slide and snorkeling tours. Then the took us to the public part of the island for a few hours. The whole time on the boat was a huge party with a ton of people.
Xel-Ha was an awsome park as well - good for snorkeling. We never made it to Xcaret, but we've heard nothing but good things. There are a ton of these tours sold right at the hotel. Oh, and someone mentioned Zip-Line tours too.

Congratulations Geminie! Have fun and I can't wait to hear all about your special day!!!

I am still searching for a song to walk down the isle to as well. What songs are you guys planning on using as your first dance? I was also wondering if you are having a MC to direct the reception or if someone from the hotel/DJ does this? What about tipping people. I believe this was touched on a little while back but I am clueless as to how much a typical tip would be to the photographer (we are using Elizabeth Medina), the wedding coordinator at the hotel, band, etc?

This blog is so helpful and I too am very excited to see upcoming pictures of the wedding!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
