ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Haven't been on here in ages, but logged on today to see how everybody was doing... for those who are worried about payments, I didn't make any payments until I was there. It wasn't until check out that I actually paid for everything. I had assumed they would want a deposit or something beforehand, but was told to just pay for everything once I was there... frustrating, I know, that people are getting different information but for the girls who are leaving soon and haven't paid don't worry at all... everything can be sorted out once you're there...let me know if any of you have any questions! Hope the planning is going well!

Also, a tip... if you're paying for everything at the end be sure to request your invoice the night before check out. We did this, and it was good we did b/c it starts to get a bit confusing w/ all the different charges for different flowers, etc so it's nice to have time to go over it and make sure it's right. It ended up being a good thing we went over our invoice the night before b/c there was a charge of about $500 for an excursion that we never went on... they had accidently input our room number or something, but it took a little bit to sort it out so it was nice having the extra time to do so.

Other than that, though, it was super easy just to pay for everything by credit card after the fact.

I am walking down the "beach" to at last by etta james. I just love here and it is kind of my inside joke because my FI and I have been together for 8 years and no one thought he would ever ask...everyone was shocked.
I also just simply love that song.

OK, we finally booked our date Oct 24, 2009smile03.gif

We are currently working w/ Laura. I sent her my $300 deposit (via credit card authorization form) and she told me that I will have to make 2 more payments...one in 30 days and another in 60 days. Maybe she is just more strict b/c she is the wedding manager...

Pics-who is this Rachel person? Does she have a website? I love Elizabeth Medina, but she is pricey. I will have about 40 people at my wedding, so I will already be spending a lot of money on food, etc...

Food-Can you guys recommend a menu for the 3 course dinner? We wanted buffet style, but I think you have to have 50+ people for that.

DJ-the DJ that is provided by RPDC...has anyone used them? If so, who was it and how was the music?

Has anyone been to RPDC in October? I am wondering what the weather will be like there. I live in Louisiana and it is 40 degrees here right now...

Thanks for that great tip! I can imagine that helped a lot. It would probably have been kinda stressful trying to sort all that out upon check out. GREAT idea!!!

Rachel is from www.playaweddings.com

Her husband Paul Schrank, is widely known on the forum as one of THE great videographers! Rachel has recently begun (within the last year or so I suppose) shooting weddings, and they are updating their site with some of her latest work (check out their blog).

Their prices are extremely reasonable...and if you like Elizabeth Medina, as I certainly do, I think you will be impressed by Rachel's artsy flare. She and Paul live in the Riviera, so there are no extra costs (besides a meal) that they charge (ie. hotel stay, travel, etc). outside of their videography/photography packages.

Good luck with the rest of your planning!

Sorry guys, I was just reading a few posts back and saw someone else asked the same question! That's what i get for not checking in every day. However, I've got another question:

Did anyone arrange for group activities when guests arrived? Any recommendations? I'm thinking of doing a welcome cocktail cruise and maybe a tour of Tulum for whoever stays after the wedding. Any recommendation of company's or vendors that handle this type of thing?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
