As of now I have a confirmation for the date and some emails about the menu and many pictures from my TA. Till this day I am not able to get in touch with my WC there but my TA has. She is really responsive to her for some reason. My TA mentioned that there are no group rates for the hotelhuh.gif And I was informed that they let you use any outside vendors except for photographers. And that is because they have a contract with their own photographers on site. Have you guys heard anything about them? I wanted Elizabeth Medina but she is already booked. With a $100 fee you can bring your own. Any suggestions?

Well enough of my rambling on and on but if you guys need any information please let me know and Ill email you things that I have....

Let the planning begin.
I am getting married at the Royal on May 6, 2009 and I specifically requested to use my choice of photographer when I corresponded with the WC, Laura. Laura said I would have to pay $100, like you have stated. I am having Cecilia Dumas and she has photographed there in the past with no problems. I have had such a great experience with her so far and she hasn't even met me! I am so excited to meet her. Her website is Wedding photography | Cecilia Dumas, Cancun y Riviera Maya | Imagenes de Bodas. I personally love her style of photography and think that her prices are very reasonable. She also does trash the dress sessions if you're interested in that.

I'm sure if you specifically mention a particular photographer that you want to use, they will say yes, and have you pay the $100.

Happy planning!!

Hm..I've never heard of Cecilia Dumas until your post ltl leah. She has some pretty amazing work. Is she based out of Riviera Maya. Would you have to pay for her to stay the night at the hotel?
To answer some of your questions, she is based out of the Riviera Maya area. I heard about her through this forum and she has a lot of people saying great things about her.

As for the resort, she would just be a guest of the resort for the day and you wouldn't have to pay for her to stay as a guest over night. I think the $100 they charge to have her photograph there is to cover the price of the day pass.

If you'd like, I can email you the prices that Ceci emailed me, or if you email her, she's very quick at responding. Let me know if I can help answer any more questions.

I am less than 3 weeks out for my wedding at the Royal and just found out some disturbing news regarding the ceremony. Micaela explained to me that the judges for the ceremony are more strict than ever and will not allow any readings, etc. What this means is that the first part of the wedding is the exchange of vows and then once he leaves we can have readings and the sand ceremony. I feel like this is anti-climatic to the 'I-do's'. Who is going to announce us even if we do readings and the sand ceremony after the vows?

What I'm wondering is how future brides that are getting legally married are going to handle this and how past brides have handled it? I'm very bummed and need ideas please!

Thanks.

PS - I haven't uploaded anything in a while so if '09 brides have questions or want samples (OOT bags, music, etc.) I'm more than willing to share!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
