I had hair and makeup done at the Gran and was blown away by how good it turned out - way better than my trial at home. I also saw and talked to other brides from the Royal who got hair and makeup done their and they were very happy with the services. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I just brought pics of hair and makeup that I wanted and the woman pretty much duplicated it. Good luck!

Hey Girls! I haven't posted in ages! Sorry! I emailed Micaela recently to make sure she hasn't forgotten about me - and she emailed me back right away! Must have been a fluke! ;-) Anyways, I feel like I don't have much to do right now b/c i have so much time. I am starting to think about invitations but I just sent my STD's out in mid July so i guess i have a while...i just want to do something - haha. oh well...I am sure it will be here before i know it. Also, I am using a TA and it has been wonderful...she was able to get a better rate than what the hotel was offering...i think in order to get the discount you need to have 25 rooms booked all arriving and leaving the same day. I have people coming and going all different days of the week! She has been a life saver - if anyone needs a TA i can give you her name!!

I was wondering about the hair and make-up services also. Does anyone recommend wearing hair up or down? I love my hair down but I am worried that the humidity will make it frizzy. I am also wondering if The Royal uses a certain brand of cosmetics? I am getting married at 2pm and I am wondering how long I can expect my make-up to last!!!

I had my hair and makeup done at 1pm and it lasted all night, way past midnight. I would have preferred my hair down, but glad I had it up since it was so hot all day. But I saw a few brides with their hair down and they seemed okay. I just get really sweaty in the heat so I thought it would be better for all my hair to be up.

I had my hair done by my mother-in-law. She has done my hair for 15 years. I had a friend of my who does makeup, and she was one of our guests in Mexico. My makeup stayed on from 3:00 in the afternoon until the following morning. I didn't wash it off because we had out TTD at an insane time of the morning. She used a primer on my face and lips. I didn't feel heavy and my face never got shiny. My hair on the other hand, turned into a mess. I had a headband in, and the saltwater air made my hair quite crazy looking about half way through the reception on the beach. If my hair had been long enough, I would have worn it up.

I had been trying to decide on how I was going to wear my hair too, but you ladies make excellent points. I have very curly thick hair to begin with and it will probably be hot and frizzy if I wear it down. I am hoping to wear it up in the front and down a bit in the back as my FI loves it when I wear my hair down.

I am planning on having the royal do my hair so I am glad you have all had great experiences!

I love this thread!

ME TOO!!!

Wearing my hair up is the way it'll be here too! I can't imagine how hot I'd get with it down! Now...I just have to find the right style...

You girls are so good at getting me all excited about the big day again!

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to jump into this thread and introduce myself to all of you. My name is Marianna and we are getting married at the Royal on May 25, 2009. As of now I have a confirmation for the date and some emails about the menu and many pictures from my TA. Till this day I am not able to get in touch with my WC there but my TA has. She is really responsive to her for some reason. My TA mentioned that there are no group rates for the hotelhuh.gif And I was informed that they let you use any outside vendors except for photographers. And that is because they have a contract with their own photographers on site. Have you guys heard anything about them? I wanted Elizabeth Medina but she is already booked. With a $100 fee you can bring your own. Any suggestions?

Well enough of my rambling on and on but if you guys need any information please let me know and Ill email you things that I have....

Let the planning begin.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
