i just read all 22 pages on this forum, phew!! that's a lot of time! :) Does anyone know yet conclusively what the cost would be to bring in an outside vendor (photographer)? Also does the lounge furniture count as an "outside vendor". This is driving me insane, everywhere i read about is now saying no outside vendors or that you have to pay hundreds of dollars for them or put them up for 3 nights!

Not to mention rising prices of wedding packages! I guess i'm freaking out because i waited so long to pick a place, which I haven't even decided conclusively on The Royal but have had it recommended to me by so many people!

I hear ya sister! The costs of things are just...ridiculous...

I'm so glad we booked when we did...cause I hear those airfares are still going up and up! Hopefully it doesn't get you too bad.

As for the outside vendors...I believe ANY vendor at this point that is offering you a service that the hotel COULD...is considered an outside vendor. You will have to verify that with your wedding coordinator, but for the furniture, I don't believe the hotel offers this service, therefore it should not be considered as such...however, they may charge you for a pass for the people to set up the furniture?!

We have to pay a $100 fee per person for outside vendors. We are having one photographer, and her assistant, so we'll pay $200 extra for that day. I think it is fuckin crazy...especially because the wedding packages and virtually tripled in price within the last six months...Anymore, and I fear I won't be able to save enough...I'm already stretching our budget, you know?!

Good luck to you and if you have anymore questions...let us know!

I WAS TOTALLY RELIEVED! We had put a $1500.00 deposit down for Elizabeth Medina, which I think will be totally worth it, but I certainly didn't want to lose that deposit because of a stupid rule change. August 9th is coming up very quick. I remember when It was fall and it seemed so far away and now it is more like.....HOLY CRAP! I better start getting a list together so I don't forget anything.

We are having a symbolic ceremony in Mexico. We are going to the courthouse at 8-8-08 and doing the legal thing. After the courthouse, we are going out to dinner with all the people who are leaving on Saturday with us (half of our guests are coming out Wednesday). We all decided to stay at a hotel by the airport that Friday night because they will let you leave your car there while you are gone and they will shuttle you to the airport for free. It ended up costing less than parking our car for all that time and it was much more convenient since our flight takes off at 7:00 am!

That is really awesome Sarah! I'm so excited for you...

My FI and I haven't set any dates or plans for the legal marriage here yet...but I'm thinking we'll looking into the marriage license after Christmas, and get hitched sometime shortly before our Mexican departure as well! cheesy.gif It's all so damn exciting.

I hope you come back with a review of how everything goes! I can't wait to read it and see pictures! cheesy.gif

Good luck again, not that you'll need it, and...great idea about the hotel man! Super smart!

Hey guys,

Just a quick update... with the Royal's prices on their wedding packages constantly changing... and getting more expensive... I asked Zulma how much it would cost for a symbolic wedding and she said $1000 .. and this is what that package includes:

Complimentary room up grade (subject to availability upon check-in)

Wedding coordinator provided by the hotel

Marriage ceremony performed by a non denomination Christ Minister in English

Decorated wedding ceremony location

C.D. music player – our music or bring your own

Fresh floral Bridal Bouquet

Groomâ€s boutonniere

2 bottles of sparkling wine to toast after ceremony

Wedding cake (15 people)

Marriage certificate

Fruit basket and bottle of sparkling wine in your room

Guaranteed king size bed

Late check-out for the couple (5:00 pm)

I hope that whoever will be marrying us won't have a problem reading the ceremony that I have put together (kinda long) ... we're including the hand ceremony and a few things that I have picked up here cheesy.gif

We'll be doing all the legal stuff once we get back home since it will be so much cheaper and more convenient. .... only 4 more months! cheesy.gif

Hi ladies! I'm on the books at Royal PDC for April of '09 and I want to go ahead and pay in advance, but Paty Ulloa and Micaela want me to wait until the '09 prices are in place... I work in the hotel industry as well & when we book something before a price increase- we have to give the rate when it was booked!!! Any one else feeling me on this one?

Also, you '09 brides, have you already booked hotel & flight? I've already got flight taken care of, but FI wants to wait until the prices go down at the hotel- I'm afraid that they wont go down- just UP! Any thoughts on this one too?

Here in Canada, typically we book everything, hotel; airfare; etc., as one package through a holiday provider. We are going through Air Canada Vacations, and have submitted our deposits on the whole thing.

Micaela has assured me that they will honor any prices that are in effect at the time they begin corresonding with a bride, so I'm not worried anymore about price increases (as far as packages and such). Hopefully it is the same with you.

Happy planning.

(Well I've been so busy lately I haven't had much time to be on this site. So I've just been reading it all and catching up.) Our pricing for our wedding is from January 2008; (they are honoring their pricing from then). And Micaela didn't seem to care when I mentioned we were looking at outside photographers (we decided to go with the resort photography cause everyone else is already booked!!). We're leaving on the 29th of November out of Vancouver for two weeks. I'm getting so excited!!! The only problems I've been having is trying to get our Birth Certificates translated and legalized!!!! And, I guess this is kinda crazy, but I haven't even looked for a dress or BM dresses yet!! Yikes! I'd better get on it!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
