I'll let you know if I find anything else out... If you're willing to give me your personal email address, I'll send you the information Micaela gave me, although I'm not too sure if they are still valid because they have changed their wedding packages a bit. Just PM me your email if you want to see it.

After reading the last few threads I'm getting a little worried!

When I first started this research back in October I noticed that the Royal had wedding packages listed on their website but then a PDF file that I received from Paty (wedding coordinator from months ago).

I chose the Classic Wedding package that included the civil ceremony a bunch of other little things (I attaached the document). The total price was $1,280. Then, I would pay the $50 pp for the reception on the beach. I just emailed Micaela to verify this is still an option.

After reading everyone's threads, I'm beginning to get worried! Once I receive clarification I'll update you ladies and hopefully that will help everyone!

Hi Ladies!

So I just got back from spending a week in Costa Rica and Now i need to FOCUS and get my STD's done!!!! I do know that the packages are customized...I had a hard time hearing back from the WC at the Gran too at first ( my ceremony is at the Royal but the reception is at the Gran on the beach) - i have to pay extra for that but we are having like 60 people coming so the gazebo at the Royal was my only choice!

I have to call and talk to them about reserving rooms b/c my guests want to book!!!

I know i sent in my booking form and Micaela said everything was set - but it makes me nervous not to have a confirmation number or send in a deposit. Oh well i guess i will just have to accept it!

Its so stressfull knowing that so many people are relying on you to book everything and to make sure it goes well! argh!

I really couldn't agree more. I have about 11 months until our wedding, and already, I feel like I HAVE to have it perfect...for the guests! cheesy.gif Hopefully...it will be...

Good luck planning! We'd love to see your STD's when they are done~

Hey ladies,

are any of you having issues with The Royal's price point? It seems that most of my guests feel that $1800-1900 CDN (all inclusive, 1 week) with a group rate is still too much... do any of you think that might be too much for some of your guests as well? I know my wedding party will pay regardless, since they are regular travelers, and they know what to expect at a 5 star all inclusive, but some of my extended family aren't so experienced with traveling all inclusive, and it sounds expensive to them. I keep trying to convince them that its DEFINITELY the cheaper route to traveling, but they are so stubborn! This is my wedding day, I don't want to stay at a 4 star, you know? I'm just afraid that my guest list will shrink to only 20 people out of the 40 who initially said they'd come.

Sorry, I just needed to vent! Let me know if you have the same issues, and what you'll do about it.

Hi Steph,

I had the same problem with many of my guests that didn't get the all inclusive. My experienced traveler friends were like - WHAT A DEAL but others though it was so expensive because they didn't get the all inclusive.

What we did is basically put on our website what "All Inclusive" means at my dad's suggestion and listed EVERYTHING it includes (found on the Royal website) and basically, said, "You will only need money for tipping, if you want to shop, go out in the town or doing any activities not listed in the all inclusive! How great is that?"

The flipside was got some extra guests that we didn't expect but in the end, my prior guilty feelings subsided for picking a 5 star All Inclusive hotel! :)

You can always give them the option of staying at the Gran Porto, the sister hotel, which is right next door and a cheaper option. It is also 5 star, but no jacuzzi's in the room, like the Royal. I believe they can then buy a day pass ($20) to use the facilities and restaurants at the Royal. You'll have to double check this though, to make sure they still offer that.

We are finding the same thing. But I found alot of people said they would come, and then realized that where we were going it wasnt the stereotypical "cheap mexico". We found that many people were expecting 5 star, AI for $1000!!! We've had the usuall "why did you pick such an expensive place?" - well duh - we're getting married!!!
So I think we're all in the same boat on this one. My FI just keeps saying that if they don't want to spend the money, they'll realize what they missed out on later.

Hi ladies, thanks so much for responding to my stresses, I feel a bit better now.

Aeroo, I did take into consideration the Gran, but I don't want EVERYONE but me staying there, you know? I want to have people stay at the Royal with my fiance and I so we can hang out, have meals together, etc. And, if my fiance and I were the only ones at The Royal and we'd have to keep going over to the Gran to visit, then what's the point of staying at The Royal? You know what I mean? And I am NOT settling for anything BUT a 5 star for my wedding!

Antonia, thanks for the suggestion with the wedding website, listing everything that's included. I think that will help.

I'll let you ladies know how it goes, when I let everyone know the price!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
