ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies, I recieved an email back from Micaele, the WC at The Royal. She is reserving May 12, 2009 for us, but we will not have a confirmation until the ministers reply to our request. I'm crossing my fingers that it happens soon, because I want to get going on my Save the Dates!

Hi Rhonda,

No Micaela is my WC at the Gran...I have also been in touch with Paty. I still need to send in my booking form and checklist in! We keep changing our minds - what do yo think about a sunday wedding so it give people a chance to relax if they can only come for a long weekend. I have a lot of teacher friends and family who can only take 2 weekdays off! Plus, we have a lot of people who will be coming for a long weekend b/c they are still in school.

So if people fly in on a Friday night and then can fly out on a Tuesday? Has any one had to deal with this kind of thing??

I just want to make it easier on our friends and family!

I thought about a Sunday wedding too but for it to be legal, it has to be Monday - Saturday! I actually chose a Monday wedding so that people could arrive on Saturday and leave on Tuesday if they could only come for three nights. I also was hoping to catch some flight price breaks given it was a Saturday to Tuesday trip.

Now that we are further along with RSVPs, people are coming anywhere from the Wednesday before when I arrive to Thursday before, Friday, and Saturday before!

Yes, I heard that too about Sunday weddings in Mexico.

I'm thinking of starting the festivities on Thursday night and getting married on Sat.....people can choose to come any length of time, but, I'm thinking most will do Thurs-Mon. Plus, I think the airfare is cheaper if you leave on Mon.

So if you are not doing a legal wedding you can have it any day? A Monday wedding could work...gives me something to think about. I just want it to work out for my family that can only take 2 days off from work! Argh - so hard trying to figure it all out!

Hey there. I've been reading all eight pages and you all have a lot of great information. I am getting married on August 14,2008 at the Royal... Actually, we will be getting married here before we leave and we will just be having a ceremony down there. We will still celebrate our anniversary on the day we have our ceremony in Mexico. Our guests still think we are getting married there. My fiance and I will be leaving on the 9th to head down there along with about half of our group (we have about 30 going). We will be staying for two weeks. Our group is either coming Saturday to Saturday or Wednesday to Saturday. Then we get a whole week to ourselves to relax. I think it will be nice getting married on a Thursday. We will be in Mexico and getting married, what could be bad about that?

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, Sarah! Let us know if you need help with anything!

Oh... and Kriswim re the week packages Steph's talking about I think things work differently in the States... correct me if I'm wrong but in the States you more book your airline and hotel/resort separately whereas in Canada you can book a week package with air and resort combined for a lot cheaper, which is what Steph is talking about.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
