It all depends on what you choose to do, and what you want to serve. My husband insisted that we have ribeye, and we also had options for sides, and had different options for desert. Also, we had an open bar. All in all, for 15 people we spent like $1,200 but you can go cheaper easily with wickys.

I had my Ceremony at The Royal, and did my Reception at Wickys. After our Ceremony, all of our guests went to one of the bars and ordered drinks for "cocktail hour" (why pay for a cocktail hour, when their drinks are free at the bar?) We had put together a book that kind of told our story, and we honored every single guest with their own page. We had pictures of us with all of our guests, and we wrote them each a thank you in the book. So like on my maid of honors page there were pictures of us from high school. This acted as our guest book, and that is what our guests did while we did our pictures.

After that, I had hired a Mariachi band to walk with us in a Processional from The Royal to Wickys (I found them playing on the street the night before and paid them $50, I would do that again and again. They were AMAZING)  I didn't like the options they were giving me for a reception at the Royal, so I decided to think outside the box. I'm not sure exactly how many people they can fit in the private room, you would have to ask them. They can do many different options though, including setting up tables on the beach if that is what you want. They are extremely accomodating, and are happy to help you do whatever you want. They will give suggestions and look into any question you ask. The morning of the wedding my maid of honor and I walked all our decorations down to Wickys and gave instructions to the head waiter on how to set everything up, and they did it perfectly.

Hi, All!

I'm getting nostalgic about my wedding, so I thought I would check back in :) I had a welcome dinner for 25 at La Cueva del Chango. It was pretty reasonable, and people still talk about the guacamole! We did a choice of two entrees for dinner, and we let people order cocktails. My MIL spent less than $1000 on the whole thing, and they were super easy to work with! We decided against a bar package because we met for a cocktail hour at the resort before leaving for dinner, and then we went right back to the hotel. People didn't end up drinking that much during the 2 hour dinner.

Good luck to all of you! Your weddings will be amazing!

Hi there!

I love The Royal, and would love to have my wedding there. The only stick is that there are some family members who have children. While I understand they are allowed in for the wedding itself, did any of you feel horrible for not having these family & friends stay at the same resort as you? It just seems a bit mean to have the wedding and havbe ppl fly all the way down, and then make them stay elsewhere... I am just struggling with this decision and want to know how your family/friends with children reacted..??  My fiance thinks its not a very nice thing to do..!

Thanks so much!!

I had children at my wedding, and those families just stayed next door at Gran Porto. It honestly wasn't a big deal. Since we could go over there from the Royal, we did one beach day with them, and then we had a welcome dinner off property they came to, followed by the wedding day with everyone. They did a lot of excursions and things with the kids anyway, so I don't think they would have stayed everyday at the pool with us even if they were at the same resort.

Hi everyone! I am also a newbie to this site but I have read some wonderful things and I am excited to begin planning my wedding for August 2014. I am still in the process of finding a resort. My biggest worry is not having been to the resort before choosing one. How did most of you narrow it down? Our wedding coordinator sent us 15 or so resorts that better fit our description of what we were looking for. We narrowed it down to 2 now but I still am uncertain about whether its the right choice. Gran Porto & Royal are one of the top choices with Barcelo Tropical/Colonial.

I had a hard time picking between Barcelo and the royal- In fact- first I picked Barcelo and then changed my mind to the Royal- I only switched because my friend had just gotten back from the royal and loved it, and my travel agent said it was her favorite resort in the area. Really- I think either one is a great choice- I know how stressful picking one is bc you want to make the very best decision- but my advice is just pick one- and don't look back! Haha- it will be beautiful no matter what! Good luck!!!!!!

Hey guys- if anyone has been waiting for a vista print coupon- there is a deal right now on living social for 19$ to get 75$ worth of stuff. On the page it says for stationary, but the actual coupon says you can use it on whatever you want. I saw on one of the posts someone made english-spanish translation cards- so I'm going to use this for that, and for some post cards for our guest book!!!

Here's the link to the deal if anyone is interested.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
