I also bought my austrian crystal hair comb off of ebay for around $15 usd. It was SO pretty and the bridal stores probably would have charged over $150 for something like that. If anyone wants info on it let me know. :-)

Hi Lovely brides!

Iâ€m a newbie but have been reading the blogs for a few weeks now trying to get my bearings. My fiancé and I got engaged about a month ago and we are flying through this planning process and getting married August 7th… so less then 2 months out (and no, I am not pregnant)! At first my friends and family thought I was crazy but the planning process really hasnâ€t been that bad. Almost everything with the Royal is booked already!

I know I have read posts about the Spa but I really hate to pay that outside vendor fee so I am just praying everything will work out okay if I bring pictures of exactly what I want and I bring all my own makeup. We are bringing my photographer with us and because he is a member of my family I told the resort that I wouldnâ€t pay the vendor fee and they said okay. So if any of you are flying in your photographer thatâ€s a tip you could potentially use to avoid that pesky vendor fee.

We are, pending weather, having everything outside… August heat, so I know it will be hot but I am hopeful the breeze will make it a bit more bearable. Any other brides out there that are trying to withstand the heat for a beach reception? Am I crazy to think this is a good idea?

Any and all tips are welcomed! Just over 50 days and counting and just started this thing. Guess the next think on my list is OOT items for the guests… besides oriental trading co any other cheap fun places to pick up items at a good price?

wow! Please tell me the name of your wedding planner/Real resort person you are working with. They are not giving me an answer - yes or no- whether I have to pay the vendor fee even though the photographer is my fiancee's cousin & we are flying him down & paying for his room air for at least two nights (he might stay 3)! I'm getting married at THE Royal on 9/4/12.

I completely agree about false lashes.  I have started wearing them on the weekends just for an extra kick.  My favorite is Ardell Style 109 which I found at Target and ebay.  They add length but not crazy long that everyone can tell you are wearing falsies!!cheesy.gif

Well my dress came last night and it is gorgeous! I totally recommend buying from them, I know it's scary but sometimes we have to take a leap of faith. Now, don't get me wrong because this dress isn't "perfect" but it will be once I get done with it. I got the custom sizing because my size is a little weird, I'm a 12 up top but a 16 around my hips. Unfortunately on the dress the hips are a little snug (if I lose an inch or two off my hips it will be perfect) but the top is way too big. I think when people look at my numbers they assume I have a large chest, but I don't. I'm a solid B cup and this dress could fit a large C. With that being said it will be easy to take it in, and it should be perfect! The fabric is great, and the construction is amazing. The cups are built in and the bodice has a ton of boning which is wonderful. There are little things here and there that could be better, but when you pay $180 for a dress that could easily be $2,000 the little things aren't that big of a deal! I ordered on June 9th, and received it July 5th so less than 30 days! Pretty good for a custom dress coming all the way from China!

I'll look through my extensive saved emails to get you the specific language, etc. but Mariana is my contact for my wedding on 8/17 at the Royal Playa del Carmen. Seriously, I didn't even state it as a question. All I said is that I wouldn't be paying an outside vendor fee of any kind for my photographer because my uncle will be taking my photos and he is staying 3 nights/4 days. She said no worries - just to give her his name, included with our guest list, and she would let the resort know.

You better believe I will be printing that email and bringing it with me just in case - but it really didn't seem like an issue. Good luck!

Just got back from our wedding at the Royal PDC and everything was wonderful.  Don't worry about a thing.  The resort itself is awesome and everyone is so helpful and friendly.  I'll write a review soon, but it was definitely the best trip I've had.  We were married on the beach and it rained before the ceremony but it was nice to cool it off a little.  It's hot and humid for sure! Don't have any worries about getting your hair done at Spazul because Lupita did mine and it was perfect.  She did a great job.  Lilia was our WC and she was great also.  We even did the resort photographer and I don't remember her name but she was very professional and attentive and spent more time with us than we even paid for.  I'll write more soon, but whatever you do, don't stress!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
