ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hey Kate!

I am two months away!!  Not sure if anyone on here is before March 23.

I am getting so excited, it's so hard to not think about being there all day when I look outside at the snow.  So far so good though.  Had a small glitch with the rehearsal dinner time but they are taking care of is so no worries.

I think I have everything done though except the wedding gift bags and that will be done this weekend!  Woo Hoo!!

I can't believe Jan has nearly gone, its going too quick! My WC marizta has been really helpfull so far. I agree with u queenoftheu. There is no way in a million years I would not get married at the royal. Every bride on here has been worried about the big day but most brides are, where ever they get married. But also every bride on here has said they had absolutly nothing to worry about because their day went PERFECT!.

I have every confindence that all of the royal brides will have a fantastic day. x

GG - my photographer suggested an evening ceremony because that is the best light for pictures. I'm not sure how much you've invested in your photos, but it's something to consider.

I was originally going to opt for the 10am time slot (believe it or not) and hit up the breakfast buffet at Spice, but our photog felt strongly about sunset.

if you're held to the 1pm time, you may see if they can offer any flexibility on the schedule. like if you did the ceremony at 2pm and cocktail hour from 2:30 - 3:30pm you could have dinner start at 4pm.

otherwise, if you have a choice, the gazebo really is great. it's protected from the general public on the beach, and there are a lot of advantages like you being elevated when you're married, giving your guests a great view. you can always take pics on the beach afterward.

What I am wondering is how did you handle the events after the ceremony in terms of timeframe? It seems from other posts that there can't really be any time lags between the events. Seems that would have us eating dinner very early. Would love to hear any comments or suggestions from any of you previous brides or brides to be. Thanks so much!

Morning brides!

I've been crossing tons off my list today for our out of town bags. I ordered the actual bags (neon drawstring bags), little medications for our survival kit, travel sewing kits, travel first aid kits, decks of playing cards, travel candles, personalized matchboxes, lens clothes for sunglasses, lanyards with ziplock badge holders for tip money & room keys, luggage tag holders, Shout wipes, and travel mugs. I really just want to order some packs of gum and SPF lip balms still.

I've also been a Vistaprint crazy person today. I ordered business cards for luggage tags, business cards for tags for our travel mugs, and some other stuff. I feel very accomplished!

We plan on giving our bags out a month before the trip, when travel documents are given out.

Also, I found a seller on eBay with cheap decorator stuff: http://stores.ebay.com/lingsupplies

The reason I am so angry is because in the beginning I asked for the Gazebo beach and they flat out lied to us and said our wedding would not fit there..which is will with only 4 tables. You can say all you like about them..they should not advertise on the website only 3 wedding times is they are doing up to 6 a day. We booked with the understanding it was not a wedding mill and it apparently never used to be..these are changes that have happened over the last 2 years. I feel as if you are attacking me on the basis of really not knowing the entire story. I have had to fight for little things like a choice of entree' or covered chairs outside..I do not think that is asking for high end service. I am just asking for honestly. My TA is actually in Mexico this week and plans to pop over there and have a chat with them..their organization does not like being led to either, I should have been given the option of that beach since it was not booked. However they just want to make it easy for themselves, book yet another wedding at the Gazebo and use that beach for that wedding. I own a retail business and if I treated my customers like this, well I would not have any. And honestly go back and read..not the only person who feels they are screwing them!

They have specific wedding packages, and all of their additional costs and rules are quite clearly spelled out in their contract. They do not promise you that you'll have the beach to yourself, and they don't have to. You had a choice of reception locations, which leaves those additional locations that you did not choose open to all of the other brides who want to get married there and are spending just as much money as you are.

I have worked in travel booking destination weddings. There are small resorts that will give you the service you want, and there are resorts that will only book one wedding a day to make sure you get special attention. I would recommend that you talk to a travel agent and find a hotel that will give you what you want. You cannot force the Royal to be what you want it to be, but you can certainly find a place that is better suited to the kind of wedding you want to have.

As for me, I am less than 4 months away from my wedding, and I have had zero issues with my experience. I have everything booked the way I want it to be, and all I have to do is hand in my guest list, meal choices, and final payment when I'm 45 days away. I am so excited to be a bride, but I do not expect my wedding hotel to treat me like a queen. I expect them to provide my wedding location and reception so that I can celebrate my love with my future husband and my family and friends.

I never even thought about putting business cards in luggage tags! What a great idea!

Our RSVP date is February 1st, so I'm just now starting to look at decor and favors. I'm so excited! I can't wait to order stuff for our tablescapes! I think I'm going to try my hand at some DIY stuff, which I didn't think I would do. But I'm pretty crafty when I put my mind to it, and with only 4 tables and 25-30 people, it's not that much work, right?! cheesy.gif

I found some pretty awesome centerpiece ideas with DIY striped candles. I am going to start there and see how they turn out!

Maggiedinh,

I'm on my 3rd WC and finally have a great one. To be fair, my first one was good too (but only had her for a week or two) but ended up leaving the company so was placed with my 2nd.  Thankfully my 2nd WC went on maternity leave so I was provided with Elvy.  I've been very impressed with Elvy, so quick to respond and is very thorough.  My last WC took soooo long to respond and many times never answered my questions!!  I've also heard (on this site) that Anna is good.  Honestly, switch! Right before Christmas I was up in arms (shared my frustration on this site) and started relooking into other resorts.  Now, I'm staying with the Royal! It makes such a difference in your overall experience so I suggest switch asap :)

Hello fello BDW brides! We were married at the RPDC on 20.11.2011. I was like all of you reading the forums and trying to gather as much information as I could. It can definitely be frustrating when your planning a wedding from another country.

I just wanted to let you know that our wedding was perfect... Just as I read it would be. Every little detail was taken care of and it was magical. Just breathe and go with it. Ut will be over before you know it.

I've attached our slideshow from our photographers Del Sol... Enjoy!!

Much love from Mrs. O

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
