Hello ladies!  I'm getting married at the Royal June 14, 2012. I have a few questions.

1. I have hired an outside photographer and have not decided on how long to book them for.  Does anyone have any recommendations?

2. How long does the dinner last with the private reception?

3. I reserved Dorrmixx for the DJ but Ana, my wedding coordinator, said that Ivan is the owner so I couldn't request him as the DJ.  Any tips because I've seen people post that they had Ivan.

Thanks ladies!  Happy planning!

I did the same thing and Ana told me the same thing - I just said that I want it notated that I requested him.

I contacted DJ Ivan's company, Dorremixx (not sure on spelling), directly and said I was booking them for my wedding at the royal and that I wanted to request Ivan specically. The person there said they didn't have anything from the Royal for my wedding, so I went back and forth with my Royal coordinator until the person said she received the Royal's request and then she booked Ivan for it. I'm on my mobile phone today, so I don't have the email address on me, but you should be able to find it via google (its on Dorrmixx's website)

On the first night everyone gets in, I plan on doing a little get-together to give out the welcome bags, etc. I don't want to do a formal welcome dinner, but was thinking of just drinks at a bar or lounge - any recommendations? I know others have done it. We have a group of about 50, so anywhere that would work?

I would do it at the Tequileria, it is just outside of the main lobby.  It is a large open area where they have some seats and tables, it was never too busy in the evenings when we were there last March.  I think that is where my fiance and I are going to do something similar :)

Thanks so much for the suggestion!

Also, I emailed Doremixx and they had no record of my request for them. So, I just emailed my coordinator (Ana) to ask about it.

HELP! :)

So I've put the deposit down for our wedding (June 22nd 2012) and no one has booked their rooms yet (because I haven't provided the info to my guests, still need to sign our contract & WC won't give room rates until she has our signed contract).  My family saw on their website that they are having a sale (and are freaking out) on rooms if you book by TOMORROW!! )I think I read an in an earlier post that you'll guests will receive a 10% discount if booking rooms through our wedding coordinator).  Do you think they'll extend this discount on their website??? I"ve asked my WC but she won't answer my questions, said she needs our signed contract (which I'm not signing until she updates the location of the reception, she left it blank).

Thanks!!

no, the WC rates will vary based on the website rates. they've been threatening to raise the rate the past three months - I think it's finally going to happen. if you can, I'd get on the phone with a travel agent immediately and see if they can hold rooms for you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
