ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I just posted this on the coupon forum, but since this is the forum I read most often, I thought I would post it here too:

I found a great deal on a pair of earrings, that I really couldn't find what I was looking for anywhere else... my colors are turquoise and yellow and the girls are wearing blue dresses.  I got these earrings for them to wear http://www.ross-simons.com/products/663184.html

I really don't like the look of gold and that's what I was finding for "yellow flower earrings".

Wonderful price with the extra 25% off.  They have other colors too if you don't like yellow.  Hope this helps someone.

Maggie,

If you are asian, you can probably keep your hair down and add tons of hair spray to prevent the hot mess.  Both of my BMs are asians, and they kept their hair down with loads of spray.

I was wondering if it would be ok to have hair down.  I know most people do their hair  up because of the wind factor, but I hate my hair up.  Do you think it will get tangled/hot mess-y if I keep it down?  Thanks ladies!

Sale at Joanne's!!!  For the DIY ladies, the paper crafting stuff at Joanne's is 60% off.  I just bought a corner punch and Crop-A-Dile for only $20.  Just thought I would share.

Now I just have to get motivated to actually start my projects now that I have all the equipment!

Hi Sherry!  It's so crazy how many people are getting married the same weekend as us!  I think we picked the most popular weekend of the year!  We luckily got all but 4 of our guests booked at the Royal!  Thank god!  The price that they charge for guest passes for people staying at the Gran Porto to come to the Royal is outrageous!  Not to mention that you have to pay more money per plate for them at the reception!   That's good that you are having a small wedding though!  How many are you expecting?  Where are you having your ceremony and reception and at what times?  The hotel is going to be filled with wedding-goers that weekend :)

I am having a very small wedding but my guest have to book at the Gran Porto as well which really sucks. We live so far away from our families we thought we would get to spend a week with them @ The Royal....but they had to book at the sister resort. Wish I had of known ...I would have picked a different resort ...I feel your frustration.

Hey Girls I have a few questions for all of you, that may have already been answered, but was wondering if some of you can help me out,

1.  Are all of you having to pay the $350 dollar vendor fee for each of your outside vendors?  We are using four outside vendors, the florist, photographer, DJ, and make-up artist.  I can see paying the vendor fee for the DJ and Photographer, but the Florist is just going to drop of the flowers, and to pay and extra $350 dollars on top of what the make-up artist charges just seems outrageous to me.  To have to pay $1400 in fees is more than our wedding package costs alone!  Did anyone have a make-up artist meet your somewhere else?  Is there anything else we can do to avoid the fees, HELP!!!

2.  I know someone already mentioned but has anyone done the Buffet at the Royal?  We are having about 70 guests at the wedding and like the idea of having a variety of options for people to choose from. My Fiance and I went and visited the hotel in September and did a food tasting for the wedding and were NOT happy with anything they gave us to try!  I was crying during the food tasting because I really want the reception to be nice!  The food at the restaurants was good but the food they gave us for the tasting was terrible!  The Filets were completely raw in the middle and after sending it back to have it fixed it was no better!  We decided to do the buffet so at least if one of the items was bad people would have other options!  Any thoughts on the buffet?

I'm paying the Vendor Fee for my photographer and then for my videographer. If you meet Marvin outside, you can avoid the vendor fee (from what I've heard). You will just have to have someone from your group set up your flowers. Also, this is why I'm going to the spa for my hair & makeup.

Hi Everyone, I am getting married may 28 2012 is anyone getting married that day also? I was wondering if the royal has offered anyone room discounts for their guests. I was told the royal cannot guarantee rates and that the room rates can go up or down monthly. I have a little time before my wedding but I am a liitle nervous about the resort selling out and not having any availability for my guests. But I also don't want the rates to keep going up. Has anyone noticed what the rates have been month to month? Have they been increasing or decreasing? Thanks!!! I am still really stressed and have a lot to do but my saves the dates went out finally!! At least our guests are really excited lol!

Mrs G511, I feel your pain!!! Rest assured, I re-read all the fine print for Real Resort wedding, and you DO NOT have to pay more for guest staying at The Gran Porto...I thought that as well, and was thinking about calling the whole thing off, but then I called and double checked, and ALL REAL RESORTS guests are priced the same, Royal OR Gran Porto....thank goodness!!  It is definetely going to be a busy weekend, and a very fun one too!!! :-)

Get a Travel Agent if you havent already!!! I am using Wendy at Wright Travel, found her late in the game but she has been BEYOND amazing!! The Royal is quickly gaining in popularity, and the rooms are booking up very far in advance....she can hold rooms for a low deposit and of all the TA"s I spoke with she was the most responsive and tranparent when it comes to fees, dates, deadlines, etc. :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
