ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

We had about 1hr to 1hr30 between the two. We did one hour of photos, just bride & groom while the guests had cocktails.

How long was it from when the reception started until the partying started? I'm trying to plan my videographer coverage. I want to make sure cake cutting is included in my coverage, but I'm having a hard time figuring out the timeline.

Thanks!

Wow I've been out of the loop for quite a while!  Congratulations to all the June and July brides so far!  I have thoroughly enjoyed hearing of your experiences and seeing pictures of your gorgeous day!

Heidi - I know tomorrow is your big day right?  I hope your special day is everything you could want!

I leave on Saturday to Playa!  Meeting with Zulma, and then meeting with Fernando for a trail makeup before the wedding on Monday.

For those who had Fernando do their makeup - did you pay the vendor fee for him?  If so and you also had him do a trial, did you have to pay 2 separate fees?

For those who booked Marvin and/or Fernando - what was their preferred method of payment...US dollars, Pesos, etc?

Have a fantastic day all!

Congrats!!! I had my wedding a month ago at The Royal in cancun and used both Fernando and Marvin!!! fantastic people to work with........

I had my hair trial scheduled with Fernando for sunday (my wedding was tuesday) and security gave him a hard time to come in the room....so luckily he had his friend open his salon (it was closed!!) that was 15 mins away and we did it there......thank god! .....so I am not sure if they will try to charge a vendor fee for that trial day... ...the day of the wedding I had to pay the fee.....ugh.......but it was all worth it....i didnt want to stress about it......luckily for you, he said he barely has issues getting into the Royal at PDC.....

I paid them both in cash USD......but some of my girls paid fernando in Pesos too....

Have the best wedding!!! Please share photos when you return!!

Deniden,

I scheduled the cake cutting right after the ceremony, so guests can sip on champagne and eat some cake as their afternoon snack.  The reason is we already got a dessert with our 4 course reception, adding the cake...errrr...Plus, the light was much better for pics outside at 5-6pm than at night.

I had 2 hours in between (due to the fact that I forced them to move everything from the beach to indoor), if not, I think the gap would be 1.5 hours.

Nikki,

I paid the vendors in USD cash.  Also paid $350 for the photog to get in. The resort security staffs are pain in the bum bum and have photographic memories, but most of our non-resort guests did sneak in without problem for days...until they got caught.

Hmmm, that's a pretty good idea. Will have to look into doing that.

Hi Nikki,

I did not have to pay for a vendor fee when Fernando arrived for the trial session. Everyone at the resort knows him - but the front desk people are a pain in the butt. They called my wedding coordinator and kept him waiting for 20mins before they let him up. You can pay him either in US dollars or pesos or direct deposit into his sister's chase account.

I paid all my vendors in advance either by paypal (Marvin uses Paypal) or by direct deposit - but that depends on how comfortable you feel about that. I felt completely confident knowing these were trusted vendors.

Hi Denielle,

I didn't do video coverage for my reception but here's the timeline that I created bc I wanted certain pictures in my wedding dress before I changed into my traditional chinese dress:

1. Ceremony - 30mins.

2. Cocktail reception with open bar - 1hr, mexican trio as entertainment and they were great!

3. Bridal Party entrance, then bride & groom

4. Couple's first Dance

5. Cake cutting

6. Dinner reception, we had them serve the dessert included in package along with wedding cake. I'm not kidding when I say everyone ate both. LOL

7. Father and Daughter Dance

8. Mother and Son Dance (I changed during this song)

9. Special surprise dance for couple celebrating their 27th anniversary that day

10. Chinese Tea Ceremony, honoring parents

11. Dance time!!

Hope this helps!

Janna-

Thanks, that really helps. I was thinking of doing the cake cutting towards the beginning so that maybe I can convince my WC to let us have Tres Leches. :)

Hi Ladies,

I need your help!

I want a harpist to play at our ceremony. The wedding specialist told me that I had to choose 3 instruments and the "union" would send whoever was available between a violinist, harpist, or guitarist. Is she serious?? I don't get to pick the instrument?? Has anyone heard this before?

Also, what are you ladies planning for ceremony music?

Hmm that is very odd!

I brought a CD with a song that I wanted to walk down the aisle to and they played that.  Also my WC Michele had a CD with a bunch of instrumental music that I could choose from for the girls to walk down to and for the hubby and I to walk to after the ceremony.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
