ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

You look amazing!  So funny, I was just signing on to choose my boudoir pics I want to have printed to give to my FI, and of course got distracted by this forum!  I need to choose quickly though because we leave a week from Monday...Aack.

We just finished assembling 40 Welcome Books and they are THE CUTEST!  I am very excited by them.  I'm going to post pictures and templates soon, but we I basically did them using Powerpoint slides divided into four of the same pages, cut them up and slid them into little mini-photo-albums from the Dollar Tree.  I love them!  Now we're both too zonked to move.   Lots of little pages and albums everywhere...

Janna - Hope your wedding day and your stay at the Royal is going wonderfully!!!  Can't wait to see pictures!  :)

Pretty pics Bonnie!!

I ordered my OOT bags today....now working on placecards and programs.  I am hoping to be done with all of this ordering and organizing within the next 2 weeks so that the last 2 weeks we can relax (is this possible?!) and pack!

Does anyone know - Are those chairs no extra cost for everyone or is that the new standard chair???

Heidi, I don't think it is possible...I am 15 days away, and still have the welcome book...and misc things to finalize...plus..I still have 2 guests who are trying to...get on board..(aka book their trips)..sigh.

Plus our super spoiled postmen are on rotational strike!  Seriously $23 per hour and defined benefit pension and bankable vacation days...etc!

Ladies!!

I am back!!

Bonnie!!! Love the pics. You look super amazing. He will definitely be going gagga over them! I agree!! Give him some imagination. msnwink.gif

Heidi - The new chairs are not extra. You now get a choice between them or the original style. I went with the new ones for the ceremony. They looked beautiful decorated and was a nice contrast to the reception style.

Okay - so the wedding went off pretty well but we did have some major issues with them letting in some of the bridal party which really, really stressed me out and made hubby super angry.

Let's just say the front desk and wedding department do not communicate at all. If you make arrangements ahead of time - GET IT IN WRITING and have the copy with you!!! I don't care what was verbally agreed upon.

The front desk people will not honor it. To be honest they were quite rude and not accomodating. Apparently we were not the only ones with front desk issues. They have no idea how to handle any issues that is not policy.

So in general it was great but a few things could have made it disasterous.

However - I'm sure my experience is a one-of situation. You girls should be fine. Just make sure to protect yourselves and any plans you have made with the coordinator.

Let me know if you have any questions. msnparty.gif

Heidi82 -

Do you by any chance know a Breah Goerlich? She was asking me about my wedding and when she heard the Royal name she said she has a friend named Heidi getting married there.

I just thought it was too coincidental so I just had to ask!!

Hi Bonnie!!

Basically the front desk just stinks. Incredibly rude. Good luck in being effective bc they just don't care. It's like the wedding department and front desk do not communicate at all. You get told one thing by the wedding coordinator and another by front desk. As long as all your guests are at the Royal then it's not a problem.

All week long I've been calling front desk for transfers and one day one person told me they are the front desk and do not do transfers and to call the operator and then hung up on me.

I will say our stay started off fantastic and then towards the end of week with our wedding it just started to slowly crumble.

It's just really sad bc the bellhops, housekeeping staff, restaurant staff and spa staff bend over backwards to make you feel like royalty.

Hopefully everyone else will have a much easier and less hassle free wedding day with their guests.

Can you tell us what issues you encountered??  Usually, my FI would let me "handle" those issues, because I am very "effective" and "efficient".  I don't wanna hurt or scar any Royal staffs on my day...girl_werewolf.gif

Hey Janna - Sorry to hear the end of your trip turned sour.  :(  That is horrible to hear, especially considering how much we time and $$$ we all put into the place!!

I do know Breah!  My FI and I are friends with her and her husband and they are coming to our wedding!  How do you know her?  You can PM me if you'd like!  :)

Hi Ladies!

I just finished putting together my Welcome Books and they are AWESOME!  I thought I'd post templates and pics here, since they are very Gran Porto and Royal-specific (getting married at The Royal, most staying at Gran Porto due to the kiddos...).  I made them on Powerpoint slides, with 4 copies of the same page to a slide.  I had color copies done at Office Max during a special deal they were having for $0.35 each.  I then slipped them into little photo brag books I found at Dollar Tree for $1.00 each.  (make sure the Office Max people chop off 1/4 inch from the top or bottom so they don't stick out!)

These took a LONG time, but hopefully I've saved some time for all of you!  Getting photos of everyone was tricky, but honestly, facebook/google-stalking goes a long way...

The pages:

1.)  Welcome letter

2.)  Itinerary

3.)  Map

4.)  Getting Around Tips

5.)  Catamaran logistics

6.)  Photo of Catamaran

7.)  Restaurants at Gran Porto

8.)  Gran Porto Activity Schedule

9.)  Playa Del Carmen Hair Salon Info

10.)  SPAzul prices

11.)  Who's Who from both sides facebook (add more pages as needed- I had a TON!)

12.)  Peso/Dollar Exchange

13.)  Photo Upload Information on Snapfish

14.)  Questions/Comments/Concerns Contact

15.)  Final Photo and Quote from our song

Here is the template:

[Oops, unfortunately, the SPAzul price list and the Gran Porto activity schedule won't upload onto here!  You wedding coordinator should be able to send these, though.  Too bad, they looked so cute in the book, I had to delete them from the template so this would fit.  Oh well.  I also took out Catamaran logistics and the photo to save file space]

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
