Hi Ladies,

I aint been on for a while but Ive just past the year to go mark, so im getting into wedding mode again. My invites are about to go out and im starting dress shopping at the weekend!

Ive loved catching up with the thread and seeing the great reviews/ photos, gets me so excited. Congrats to all the recent brides and good luck to the the brides coming up, looks like your next Jozee84!

Jennifer, you are definatly not a bridezilla, I would be freeking out! Why on earth would u die ur hair hot pink just before a wedding, especially when your BM. Maybe she just got carried away and when she realises it aint gonna go with the dress she may change it back, fingers crossed for ya.

This time next year will be my first day as a MRS. eeeek x

Has anyone heard from Marvin from Maya Diseno?  I have like a week before I leave and he is not responding to any email and I'm starting to freak out!!  Their was never any deposit with him.  So I don't know if he will even bring our flowers or not.  And he requires cash the day of and I don't carry that kind of cash on me all the time.  Is he responding to anyone elses emails?

noootttttt really. I've emailed him for a quote 3x over the past, say, month, and I received a response last week that said he's send rates and pictures soon. he sounds overwhelmed, but I think your situation is pretty common, and I know from past reviews that he does need cash day-of (someone had to borrow money off someone in their wedding party before).

Jennifer - I would absolutely DIE if one of my bridesmaid's did that.  I think I would say "If you really didn't want to be in the wedding, all you had to do was say so".  LOL.  That's really not cool at all.

In regards to the girls questioning about Marvin - if you want my advice, have faith in him.  He can take awhile to respond to emails, but when I first started communicating with him back in January/February he was extremely responsive.  Since then he has said that he is just absolutely swamped.  If he has confirmed your order is submitted, I am sure he will have your flowers for you.  If you're really nervous, email him asking for confirmation and that you're concerned and considering looking elsewhere for someone to do your flowers since you're not sure if he is committed to your day.  After I did that he wrote back very apologetically, re-sent my quote, and assured me my flowers would be ready and beautiful.

Question for you ladies regarding wedding party gifts - what have/are you getting your bridesmaids and especially flower  girl/ring bearer if you're having one?

Janna - Your big day is SOOOO close!!  Yay for Houston brides!  This heat is preparing us for Mexico!  LOL ;)

I added my date!

Tomorrow is my 45 day mark and I have to turn everything in to my WC, Maritza.  I am so dumb and thought she was my onsite coordinator this whole time.  She said she'd be turning my stuff over to the onsite coordinator pretty soon.  Doh.  *MUST* remember to print out all correspondence before I go!

I had the same issue with Marvin.  Weeks went by without a response and I sent a gentle note reminding him that I'd like to use his services and if he could please get back to me with the estimate.  He sent pictures and quotes quickly after that.  He told me I could either pay by PayPal or in cash.  I've decided to pay cash the day of!

Hi JoZee84!

That's crazy about Marvin. Everytime I've emailed him, he's always responded back quickly. So weird. There's no deposit for his stuff. Once you agree to the final invoice, he sends you an email that you can either pay using paypal or cash. I went ahead and just paid him through paypal. I feel pretty confident paying him since so many brides on here use him. Plus I just don't want to travel with alot of cash on me.

I'm already bringing some cash for Fernando. i went ahead and paid for my services in full and for makeup for my mom, m-i-l and two bridesmaids. All I need to do is pay for their hair and that's it. Whew!

Heidi82 -

Thank you ma'am!! I'm an starting to get super excited!! We're in the middle of preparing audit schedules (yay financial accounting!!) so that has been keeping me pretty grounded and focused. However there are some nagging details that I need to finish, like reception timeline, escort cards and dj music. Ugh!!! How did the bootcamp go? I think you said you joined something like that? Maybe I'm going crazy. LOL...

Hi ladies, don't worry about Marvin he's just super busy right now.  You can always call him too and I LOVED my flowers from him.  I can't remember if I posted pics or not but here is my bouquet and centerpieces I got through him.  However if you dont have your contract from him I would be sure to get that.

Also, just a heads up my WC said The Royal couldn't put the centerpieces on the tables for me without charging the vendor fee.  I freaked out at first but my aunt and a couple friends put them on the tables for me and the bell- boys from the hotel brought them carts and wheeled it out to the beach for them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
