ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

My WC had told me and sent me pictures of the reception setup that comes with all of the packages. It is the white table cloth, white chair covers, lights underneath the table, and a candle for the centerpiece. Here is a pic of the standard setup (so I was told):

Does the royal provide any type of centerpieces for the table with any of the packages? We are going with the Eternal Romance package!

Also some people mentioned they bought linens for the tables..I thought this type of stuff was taken care of if you purchased a package...anyways. I know they do not provide table runners and colored sashes for chairs but for the reception do they cover the tables and head table with white linen?

Thanks so much!!!

Labebita911: I am using Marvin and he said he delivers to Playa del Carmen everyday and the "delivery fee" is already included in the cost of the flowers and that he will set up a time to meet you in the lobby the day of the wedding so you can pick up the flowers from him. The resort shouldn't charge you a vendor fee as long as u pick up the flowers yourself and set everything up yourself!! Let's hope that's true... :)

Hey Bride2B22 - yeah the wedding is next week!! I have mostly everything. I need to work on the seating plan, programs, and the ceremony script asap.  There's a GREAT forum on here for the ceremony scripts though so I plan on doing lots of borrowing!

As far as the dress question, i feel like you should spend as much time with your dress on......it's the only day you'll get to wear it so why not! everyone loves a bride who can party all night with her beautiful gown on! msnwink.gif

Hello! I think 9 to 10 people is fine. That's what my WC advised. I don't have that many people going so I have to cut mine's down a bit.

YAY JHarris - You're pics look soooo pretty!!! :)

That kind of makes me think I should have someone take some pics before I put the dress on in Mexico for the big day since I'm not doing any bridal portraits in Houston...

Congrats Nadiah!  That's a big deal!  :)

My FI and I are going to do the same thing in Houston.  We are having trouble picking the day though.  We have every other Friday off, so we will probably do it on one of those days so that we don't have to take off of work...Just need to decide!

RosiePosie - I really like your centerpieces!  You are so creative!

OMG y'all...My wedding is 4 MONTHS FROM TODAY!

I feel like time is going to FLY BY the next four months.  My to do list is getting bigger every day!!!  AND the freakin' budget is almost out the window.  I need to work on that.  I thought having a destination wedding was supposed to be cheaper?!

One setback I had:  The WC coordinator had previously told me I could have the 2010 package price instead of the 2011 price since we booked in 2010.  Well she said the "policy" changed and she can't do it anymore.  Whatevs

The good news lately...My WC told I could book one night at either the Gran Porto or the Royal for my photographer and pay that instead of the vendor fee.  I think I just might do that since it's cheaper than $350 to get a room at the Gran Porto.

A tiny little thing that made me happy...I bought a hair flower from Etsy and it arrived this week.  It's so feminine and I never wear stuff in my hair so I can't wait to wear it for the big day.

We sent our invitations out this past weekend!  WOO HOO!  That was a big item checked off the list.  Since we have to cancel some rooms if we don't fill them we had to get the invites out pretty early.

Does anyone have any pictures or places they go to online for inspirations on bouquets?

I've checked out The Knot and none of the pictures really catch my eye.

Good night!  wink.gif

hey Heidi82- I booked my photog at the Real playa del carmen hotel and beach club, it is their cheapest hotel room at $90 for the european package (no meal plan).  Then they are considered "Real" guests.

melsramey- We are only doing 6-8 per table.  I saw mentioned about 300 pages back (haha) that 8 fits good. 10 might be squishy. check out suzy831's pic above, theres 8 chairs

thanks!

looks like your date exactly 2 months after mine!

like JoZee mentioned, try the Real it's supposed to be other the other side of the Royal, not far and I was also told they're considered a Real guest so you pay the lower price for dinner + etc. Not sure in terms of day pass though, so you might want to check on that part.

yes, it sure does seem like the big to-do list just keeps growing while the budget keeps on shrinking. we all thought a destination wedding would be "easier and cheaper", when compared to certain venues and whatnot for an in-town wedding it is cheaper, but it's definately not easier. People are like "what do you have to be stressed about? You just having a destination wedding. (then I roll my eyes) because they don't know what they're talking about. blink.gif

sending out invites sure makes it seem more "real" huh? 4 months will pass by in a flash, enjoy it! happy planning~~~

OMG Speedy!!! You look absolutely amazing!!! I love the look of black and white - so timeless and sexy!! Way to rock it!!! Your FI will be super surprised!!

Heidi- Thanks!! I definitely recommend having someone or your photographer down there take some pics of you around the resort. It has beautiful details and archways.

Congrats Rosie!! When you send out the invites - it definitely makes it more real. Now I just feel excited and stressed!!! LOL...

I agree the list is growing but I'm taking a step back to really think about if I need it.

Melsramey - I would fit 8 around the people so that people are comfortable and can spreadout.

Congrats to our April 1st bride!!! Have a marvelous time!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
