27 days to the Wedding!!!

You should call your WC and have her do it over the phone! That is what i did after having problems with their site.

Hey guys~

I need some help with my oot bags.  I have a few questions that maybe you guys can help me with:

1.  Did anyone purchase travel mugs to put in their oot bags?  Is it worth it?  I probably won't buy the insulated ones so the drinks will get warm but it's a cute idea.   Does the Royal serve you drinks in little plastic cups?

2.  Did anyone else make room key/tip holders?   Are the room keys the size of a credit card?

3.  What else did you find useful to put in the oot bags (other than the bandaids, Advils, Tums)?

Thanks for your help girls!!

There's a whole forum on OOT bags, what worked, what didn't, etc. - really helpful stuff.

The room keys are the size of credit cards.

My WC said that I have to pay the vendor fee plus the cost of non-resort guest for their meal at reception.  That seems absolutley ridiculous to me and I'm super irritated! (I would be paying close to $500 extra for each vendor) =(

Past brides is this what you encountered?  Were any brides able to get away with buying day passes for vendors?

Any input will help, thanks ladies!  Only 7.5 weeks until I leave.

I am having the same issue right now! I think its absurd! We are looking into booking a room at anyone of the REAL resorts at the cheapest price we can, but I don't think my photographer is even going to use it.  Its a waste of money! I also asked what if I have family members taking our photographs at the wedding that are staying at another resort not a REAL resort and they said the same thing.  We would have to pay the vendor fee plus the non REAL guest price for dinner plus another 10 for cake and champagne.  CRAZY ! I'll let you know if we get a good rate on a room for them for a night.

There were some earlier brides that purchased personalized mugs and said everyone loved them and I don't think theirs were insulated.  Other things that were put in OOT bags were, reg playing cards and board game cards, hand sanitizer, disposable cameras

I am also having the same issue, I had read on this thread that if you book an outside vendor such as a photographer a room at the Royal or Gran you can avoid the overpriced outside vendor fee.  Well the Royal must be catching on to this and they are determined to continue to charge their outside vendor fee.  I told Anna, my coordinator, that we have hired Ivan Luckie as our photographer and  that I will be paying for his room at the Gran so him and his assistant can be a guest at our wedding. She then replied that they know he is from the area and since he is from the area they are going to charge us the outside vendor fee even if we pay for his room!!   I was so pissed when I read that, there are 35 people that are coming to the resort because we choose to have our wedding there, and we are going to pay for him to stay at their resort and they still want to charge the outside vendor fee.  I probably shouldn't have told her that he was going be our photographer and just added a room in his name, but I didn't so now we have to pay the stupid vendor fee.  My TA is trying to do what she can to have this fee waived, I will let you all know if she is able to have the fee waived or not

Wow this is crazy!  I was told before that if they were a guest of a Real resort there would be no vendor fee.

I truly do not understand the outside vendor fee.  It's just extra money in the Royal's pocket for no reason.  Like you said we and our guests are giving the hotel thousands of dollars.  I'm doing my best to get around this and have not mentioned the names of my vendors to WC.  It seems the onsite coordinators are more lenient with the rules and fees so I'm hoping once I get down there I won't be charged.

Another idea I had was just buying them day passes, it may work out cheaper. Did any past brides get away with this?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
