I know that most, if not all, of the wedding packages include a 'Complimentary upgrade to the next suite category if available'.   Has anyone been able to upgrade upon arrival?  I'm trying to decide whether or not to go down a level (we're currently Oceanfront) in hopes that we might be able to upgrade for free and have more money to spend on the wedding.

And Heidi, I will miss your wedding by one day!  We will arrive at the Royal on the 23rd.  Yay for a fellow Texan being there around the same time though :)

Hi Nikki, welcome to the forum! I don't think I'd wait to see if they have the room to upgrade you.  I'd book what ever room you really want and if they do have availability to upgrade you see if they can give you a room with a better view.  The resort seems to run at full capacity from april to august.

Hey Ladies!

Quick Question! How far in advance did you put for your RSVP cards? The wedding is June 17th and at first I thought May 25 was plenty of time but now I'm not sure. I haven't paid for the invites yet so I have time to change the date. Some friends are telling me I should set it in April. If they go through my planner they have until April 16th to pay in full.

Suggestions?

JHarris,

My wedding is on July 4, and I put March 1st on my RSVP.  When people nags, I will tell them May 1st in the real deadline.  Again, I need to know how many OOT bags, chair sashs, favors to buy, and also the hotel tend to SOLD OUT 2-3 months in advance for popular weeks/days. I don't want people to come to me in June, and tell me the hotel is sold out/ the plane tix price went up like a rocket because of the oil price.

I gave everyone a 18 months of advance notice that I will have a DW, so technically, those who wants to come have sufficient time to save/prepare/do research...etc.

JHarris - Thanks for the ring suggestions.  We need to get on it!  This weather HAS been crazy!  I'm ready for the summer; I can deal with the heat anyday! :)  I need to start looking for and ordering my invites!  Eek!  I want to say that the resort requires the final wedding information 45 days prior to the wedding, so that might be a good date to think about when asking for your responses back.

Are you putting meal options on your invites or in an insert in your invites?  Or are you doing the same meal for everyone?  We thought about doing a choice between steak or salmon, but I'm wondering how messy that could end up being...

Kate112 - My WC is Maritza too.  She is very helpful and always responds to me within a day, although I haven't had too many questions yet.  The best way to communicate with her is through the Real Resorts basecamp website so make sure she has that set up for you.  That's also how she sent me forms that needed to be filled out and all the pictures of the flowers, cakes, etc.  Happy planning! :)

My mom and dad booked their trip and they are flying to Mexico on the same flight with me and my fiance!  I am so excited!  This will be their first time to Mexico and I'm glad they are coming with us so they don't get lost or get overwhelmed!  YAY YAY YAY!cheer2.gif

Nikkiscriv - We might end up seeing each other just not each other's weddings.  I'll still be at the Royal on the 23rd and the 24th.  We are actually doing our TTD session on the 24th instead of the day right after our wedding so we can sleep in and relax!  Then we head out the evening of the 24th for our honeymoon!

JHarris - p.s. I hope you get your Tiffany's band! wink.gif

JHarris - My wedding is May 7th, and I put the RSVP for March 7th.  I need to have the numbers to the resort for the final payment 45 days before the wedding, so I planned for that, plus a little extra time.  People seem to know if they are coming or not by then anyway!  And we have already received most of them by now and have a good idea on final numbers.

I did put the meal choice on the rsvp, and I did go with two entrees.  Hopefully it won't be too complicated...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
