ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

Thank you for all your posts on this website.  I've started reading it recently, and it's been very helpful!

I'm getting married at the Royal PDC in 5 short weeks on February 20 so I'm finishing up my planning with my WC now.

I asked today for an address where I could send my wedding favors for them to store at the hotel, and they said they no longer accept shipments to the hotel and they will not store anything.  Of course I've already paid a lot for engraved margarita glasses for each guest, so I will now have to get them down there in extra bags and hope I can pack them well enough so they don't break on the plane!

Anyway, I just wanted to let you ladies know that you can no longer send anything to the hotel.  You will have to bring everything with you in checked bags on or as carry on luggage.

It looks like we will have a lot of extra bags for our wedding!

Thanks so much for your input!  That makes me feel a lot better about upgrading to the private reception.  And that's a great idea about heading over to 5th Avenue!!

The standard reception setup comes with a "wooden" dance floor... and I've read from some people's review that they were upgraded to the light-up dance floor for free... so I am crossing my fingers that that happens for me!! :)  But with my luck probably not... and I don't want to pay the $700 or whatever for the light up dance floor.

Children are allowed at the wedding. I think they are allowed to come 1/2 hour before the reception and stay until 1/2 hour after the reception. Also.. I believe if you have the reception on the beach, it has to end by 10 or 10:30.. but if you have it in the ballroom, you can have it until Midnight? I think that is what I read. I plan on just going to 5th Avenue after the beach reception if everybody is still in the party mood and going to bars to keep the party going!

Be wise in whatever decision you make if you decide to order flowers because some of the ladies (I think the ones who booked before 12/2009) only had a 100.00 vendor fee. The vendor fee after that is 350.00. If you have to pay 350.00 plus whatever the florist is charging, it may be cheaper to just go through the resort. Do the math and make whatever decision is best for you. Good luck and happy planning!

I actually brought this up with my wedding coordinator (Claudy) and since I"m just doing bouqets & bouts (& no centerpieces), there is no vendor fee. I think basically if you are taking care of it yourself there isn't one and if you are making the resort set things up for you (or if you have a big order with lots of centerpieces etc) then you might get charged one.

I actually have a pretty large order for Marvin including centerpeices.  I was told there was no vendor fee as long as we meet him outside, pick them up, and go put them on the tables ourselves.  My centerpeices are an arrangement in a vase so it will be pretty easy to just put in the center of the table.  This is the ONE task I am giving my maid of honor. =)

Hey ladies,

I'm also a Royal Bride (June 24, 2011)! I've been reading the thread occassionally for a while-- the closer we get to the date- the helpful you ladies are! Thank you.

I'm wondering if anyone has prices for bouts and bouqs from Maya Diseno Floral? I tried to go to their website--- but it was all in Spanish :)

Marvin is amazing. I emailed him with the types of flowers that I was considering and he sent me about a dozen different samples with prices. I think your best bet is to email him with a couple thoughts and he'll get back to you with some samples. I'm thinking about orchids and the bouquets ranged from 120-175 and bouts from 30-70ish. Very reasonable for sure!

Here's his info:

Hope this is helpful!

Yeah, I actually found out that Denise was on vacation, so they assigned me to Michelle instead. I'm happy to hear she's good to work with. she's been very helpful so far! I'm also working with Marvin, God bless him! I've been so indecisive on the flowers I want to use, and he has been SO patient and helpful the whole time! And his prices are much better than what The Royal PDC wanted to charge me. - Sarah 2.5.11 The Royal Playa Del Carmen

Hi everyone!

I too have been reading this forum for quite some time now. My fiance and I are hoping for a July 2012 wedding at The Royal PDC. At this point I'm just trying to wrap my head around what needs to be done to start the planning process. We are to far from the date to book yet, so I'm just reading up on all this great information. You ladies really are great! Congratulations to all who have their wedding coming up!

First off, I just want to say thank you all so much for the great info. This forum, especially this thread is such a valuable resource. Me and soon to be hubby are getting married May 18th at the RPDC. We are getting married on the beach at sunset, but we are very indecisive about our reception location. We have it booked at the beach in front of Pelicanos. My only worry about this is that it will be windy. Can anyone comment on this?? What would be the best thing to do? Keep it on the beach, or go for the court yard??

Thanks for the info ladies!!!!

Leaving for Playa 4 months today!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
