ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Okay good! This makes me feel a lot better! I have read other posts on here that the Pelicanos beach is nicer, but for some reason I thought it would be more "crowded" over there... but this is great to hear!

Suzy,  honestly I would be happy with this move.  The Pelicanos beach is A - bigger and B - more "out of the way" for normal guests on the beach.  I realzie how frustrating it can be to have a change like that made with out your approval, but honestly I think you will like it better....also it is not a big difference distance wise - 3-4 minute walk?!?

GC - My coordinator said it would be fine to ship items.  That they need to be sent to your coordinator somehow labled with your names/wedding date.  The only down side is that they say they aren't responsible if it doesn't arrive.  Also with customs, things can get held up - I have heard that it is BEST to include your receipts of the items you are sending with them - that it helps it get through customs faster.  Just a thought....

Suzy pelicanos is the largest beach area and that is where I chose to have my reception.  It is next to the pier behind Pelicanos restaurant.

I can post a couple pics tonight if you'd like, they are saved on my home computer.

Happy Holidays everyone!

I wouldn't be too happy if they had changed my location without my concern either!

I booked my wedding almost a year ago and since then I am now on my 4th WC... my last one Katia was awesome, but she is on maternity leave now... so I e-mailed my new WC about my reception on the beach behind the gazebo and it interfering with the wedding that is scheduled at the gazebo at the same time.... and she writes back that my reception was moved to the beach by Pelicanos!!! Okay, in every email and message from my other WC's I've specifically stated that I wanted my wedding on the beach behind the gazebo (just because I wanted everything in the same area so people didn't have to walk far to get to places) and I was told it was booked there... in all of my paperwork I sent them, it says "Reception: Beach behind Gazebo".. so can they just move it without asking me?? How is the beach by Pelicanos?? Is it nice? Is it nicer or worse than the beach area behind the gazebo??? I'm sooooo annoyed... but not sure if I can really do anything at this point. I know a beach is a beach... but just when I think I have everything figured out and organized, something else changes without me knowing!! :(

Katia was mine too!  She was so sweet, I really liked her.  Elvy has been nice too, but not as detailed.

Hello everyone!

It's the strangest thing...I did my first post on this forum introducing myself a few days ago, but it seems to have disappeared, so I'm gonna try again!

My name is Sarah, and I'm getting married at The Royal PDC on February 5, 2011.  I actually discovered this forum about a year ago, and it has really helped me a lot throughout the planning process, but this is the first (or second, really) time I've ever actually posted anything myself!

I'll admit that I'm a bit behind on my reading at the moment...it's crazy how much you miss if you don't check the forum for a couple of weeks!

I've been working with Claudy for the past several months.  She's been great and very responsive and helpful for the most part, but like your coordinator, GC, she's been resistant to a few things like shipping items ahead of time, and at the moment, I'm fighting to get the Tres Leches cake for my reception!  I'm waiting to get a final invoice from her now, and I think I'm going to get transferred to someone else very soon...maybe I'll have more luck with shipping stuff ahead with my new coordinator.

Anyway, it's great to meet you all!  Happy planning! :)  and Happy Holidays...

~ Sarah

i had 65 guests & was always running into people.  i had people at the royal and gran porto so sometimes i was running back & forth between them to find a few people.  i never once thought that the resort was crowded at all and they were apparently at 94% capacity at the royal when i was there.  it was fun to just wander around & run into people from my party.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
