ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

GC2008 - I have pretty much second guessed everyting from doing a destination wedding, my dress, my shoes, the bridesmaids dresses, the decorations.....basically EVERYTHING.  I think we get so wrapped up in wanting everything to be so perfect that we miss the point of the wedding.  It is to celebrate two lives joining together, so all you really need if yourself and your fiance!  Try not to get carried away with the "what ifs."  Everytime a bride comes back and you hear how "perfect" everything was and what an amazing time they had, you realize everything will just work itself out!  I know its hard, but just try to go with the flow!

anyways, its definitely way too late to make any changes to our wedding....but just wondering if others have experienced the doubts beforehand....

GC2008,

I had second guessing as well- we even went so far as to book another resort because of it. Ultimately, we stuck with our decision of The Royal and I am soooo glad we did! I can't tell you enough how amazing the resort is...we do tropical vacations every year and this has been THE BEST. It really has the "full package" - the food is excellent, the resort top notch, and the fact that it is walking distance to 5th avenue is a HUGE bonus (imagine Bourbon street in New Orleans). The way they take care of you and your wedding is the icing on the cake. I honestly believe my wedding is the best wedding I have ever gone to, and I'm not just saying that because it was mine lol. There is really something magical about that place and also looking around and seeing your two families together smiling and having fun in this beautiful place on earth.

You won't regret booking it. Stop looking at other places :-)

Oh and new brides to be..... put your wedding date in your signature at the bottom :-) (and Royal Cancun or Royal PDC)

GC2008,

So far, I haven't second guess my choice.  I picked the Royal, after 3 months of research, and I have been to PDC 3 times before, stayed 1 time at the Gran Porto (before the Royal was built).  I picked it for its location, and the fact that it is adult only with a kiddy friend hotel next door.  it has 7 restos is a plus because I am a very picky eater.  The price of their wedding packages is reasonable too.

First of all, I am a very dominant person, so no one would stay outside of Royal, and those who got kids, I made it clear that they HAVE TO stay at the Royal or the Gran Porto. LOL

As for the countries...my FI doesn't want to be in Cuba, DR, and Jamaica (people are too poor, and there isn't much to do outside of the resort).

Hi Ladies!

I have not posted on here for quite some time because I was going through some major issues with my family and the wedding. Basically, my Dad and a few others expressed deep concerns with going to Mexico. I understand this is silly, but they were really pushing it on me to re-think everything. I know what most of you are thinking, this YOUR wedding..which I agree with, but to not be sure if my father would be there and some of my closest friends was really difficult for me to handle. I didn't sleep for a few days, was super stressed out and just really freaking out about everything since we had some people booked, we were booked, photographer booked, etc. It took a while but we finally decided to change the location. This was a very difficult decision but it was really due to people dropping out and my worries that my own father would not be there. It's not always in my favor, but I am the type of person that likes to make othere people happy. I had already had some guilt with knowing that planning a destination wedding meant people who wanted to be there would spend a lot to go and then others would not be able to. I knew that I definitely still wanted to do a destination wedding, so we finally sat down and felt it was in everyone's best interest if we just changed everything to Aruba.

I have a lot of mixed feelings. I am sad that we will not be going to The Royal anymore because we were definitely looking forward to it, but I am happy about the new location. I found a great wedding planner who did my friend's wedding there and a beautiful location for the wedding. It is costing a little bit more than what we budgeted for Mexico but we knew that would happen. I am hoping that Kevin and I can go to the Royal PDC for our 1st. aniversary.

I just wanted to say that I still stalk this board! I have gotten so many wonderful ideas from you ladies and I love seeing all of your beautiful pictures and amazing details leading up to your wedding. I know all of you will have a gorgeous wedding there! I'm sad that I am not part of the Royal PDC bride family anymore :(

Even though I will still pop on here to see what all of you are up to, good luck with everything to all of you. This is a really wonderful group of ladies and I am so happy I could be a part of it.

With many happy marriage blessings,

Marisa

Marisa,

I can understand your feelings. My father only mentioned changing venues to my once, but it was enough to make me anxious. Ultimately, what is most important is having your loved ones with you. I'm sure Aruba is going to be insanely beautiful (I'm guessing that is where you changed it from your sig lol). Have the best wedding and we will still be here to chat :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
