Ok girlies I have a question:

I ordered starfish for my escort/place cards for the reception tables.  Well when they showed up, I was pretty surprised they smelt fishy....OMG...they were REAL!!  sad.gif Ok, totally not expected but now I am wondering if Customs will accept them (if found).  They are pretty small (2-3 inches) but I am not sure if it is on the prohibited list.  I would be pretty screwed if I had to throw them all away.

I know they say you cannot bring shells, but I am assuming that is real shells, not manufactured shells - or do they care?  I baught a pretty large starfish statue from Kohls (clearly manufactured) and a big manufactured shell which I am assuming are ok.

I tried to google but I couldnt find anything specific....does anyone know?

Hey girls -

I was a Royal Cancun bride back in May... I have a question for those past and present brides.

My friend is having a wedding there in 2012. I know the whole schpell about the outside vendor crap and she's trying to avoid this. My husband is going to be her photographer/guest... however you want to put that. Do you think they'd try to charge her the fee for him even though you could technically say he's a guest? Has anyone does this where their friend/guest is a "vendor" whether it's photog or anything?

Thanks yall! wink.gif

If he is staying at one of the REAL Resorts it shouldn't be a problem at all!  If he is a guest at the hotel and at the wedding, there wouldn't be a vendor fee.  This is what I am doing!

Ya it is kind of hit or miss with this unfortunetly. If you wrap them really well in something and like Pretty Pig said scatter them the chances are less. But I would consider what happens if you do get stopped and they get  confiscated? Whats plan B just in case :)

I brought 60 starfish with me and had no problems. But I really think it all depends if you are stopped by customs or not. I used them for decorations on the tables so my attitude was if they get confiscated they get confiscated but luckily they did not. Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
