Unless you have the free wedding - then that person is included.

That's what I originally wanted to do, but my FI's friend who does weddings won't be able to make the wedding...and nobody else wants to do it sad.gif  We ended up getting a minister from the hotel.  Boo...

Ladies-

For anyone who has already paid their bill, do they charge us in US Dollars or Pesos?  When they charge us in Pesos, the credit card company charges a fee.  My friend got charged this fee when she booked her room.  Just wondering if anyone else got charged a conversion fee or if the charge was for US $$$.  Amex is 2.7% and others are 3% so it definitely adds up!

thanks!

I was charged in US dollars as well. Did you book directly through the hotel or have a TA? I used a TA and was not charged anything. How strange.

Thanks Natalie & RosiePosie for the transportation help!  I contacted CancunTransfers and they are super helpful and very quick to resond.  We think we are going to use cabs though, since it will be cheaper.  :)

I can't wait to leave for Mexico for my friend's wedding.  I can't imagine how I'll feel next year when it's mine!

Have a good weekend everyone!  ALMOST Friday!!

It doesn't seem worth it when some people don't drink champagne and there's an open bar so people will already have drinks in their hands!

I signed my contract in January, so I got the rates from last year. I'm paying $20 pp for the cocktail and $60 pp for the reception for our non-resort guests. We have 11 so far!  When I got my final bill they were trying to charge me a higher rate for non-resort guests, but I asked the WC to change it back to the prices that were quoted when I signed my contract. It was not a problem at all.  You should double check the prices that were posted when you signed your contract and make sure they give you those prices. Don't let them get away with increasing the prices on you!

I signed my contract late december '09, so that should apply to me too. The weird thing is that in the package lower than ours, there is a charge of 10 pp (non real) for champ/cake, but in luxury it doesn't mention anything like that, much less 20 pp for that. Grrr

ladies, how do you edit your posts?

I would ask them to take it off then. Are you really set on the champagne toast? If not, then I'm sure they'd remove the charge. Who's your WC? I was working with Maritza. She didn't even question me when I told her the prices on the spreadsheet were incorrect. I told her what the prices were when I signed my contract and she fixed it and sent it back to me. No questions asked.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
