Hey- I am getting married at the Royal Cancun, so it is the same WC's and I know they are not allowing me to send anything at all prior to the wedding. I have begged because I am having a very large wedding there and really need to send stuff down but Ana, my WC said it isn't permitted there and they won't accept it. Let me know if you have luck with The Royal PDC!

That is really interesting. I've never heard of that before. I can't imagine why you can't send ahead of time. That is so silly. This resort is definitely getting very popular. I know it'll be beautiful on the day of - but now i wished I had picked a quieter resort. LOL...

Keep us posted in case they change their minds. =)

Also, are any of you planning to get your makeup and hair done at The Royal's spa?  Have you heard if they do a good job :)  My hairstylist was going to come to the wedding but I just found out that she cannot come now so I need to make new plans.  Thanks!

The SPA does good hair from what I hear but the makeup is not good. If you use them for makeup- bring your own and they'll use it. I'm just going to use an outside vendor so we're all ready and done at the same time. Fernando Fuentes - he uses MAC makeup and I haven't seen a bad pic. =)

Msglave - we decided not to send anything down in the end because we ran out of time sad.gif but Zulma have me the address and everything when I called her and told me it would be no problem. Again looks like it depends on what WC you get.

Good to know about the dress code. I am getting ready to send an e-mail out to everyone about stuff we leave in 34 days!!!

Hi Royal PDC brides! DH and I just finalized our trip for Thanksgiving to the resort, and it looks like a couple of y'all are going to be getting married at that time! Maybe I'll get a glimpse at your big day. Hope everyone's planning is going great :)

Thanks for your responses! I do have some shells, starfish and sand dollars. Is it easier to carry those on? Jes, I can't believe your time is here!

I believe the WCs will request that you address any mailings to their attention. Most brides have had shipments arrive successfully, although they say to allow appropriate time for customs, just in case. Shells are the most common thing that cause a hold-up. Other brides had packages returned to them in time to carry them onto the plane. And I don't think anyone had an issue with boxes being misplaced once they arrived at the resort - customs was the biggest headache.

Best of luck, msglave!

It was my understand that you aren't supposed to take shells over period, but maybe it is limited to shipping? Good question....

That was my understanding too. I was told you not could bring over seashells. Definitely let us know if it's just a shipping thing!  =)

Sweet Lisa! We get in on your wedding day! If you are at the resort after the wedding I'll have to *buy* you a congrats drink. I just checked out your wed-site and it's the same one that I used :) DH and I both work in IT and met at work too... although we're more on the unix side of life #nerdy

Ummmm.... I took real starfish, but they were all wrapped up in boxes and DH grabbed that suitcase and basically ran to the exit so it wouldn't get searched. The bag that did get searched had OOT junk and they gave me a super hard time over the waterproof cameras and hand sanitizer. So yeah, I'm guessing that they totally would have confiscated the starfish if they had found them. Probably better to not take them with you. Maybe ask your WC where you could buy them in town when you get there...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
