I'm using maya diseno myself. my WC is out on vacation - but when she returns - I plan on emailing her all my questions at once.

I'm still irritated that I have to share with a country music concert. smile41.gif

Ah liberal arts! I got my Bachelor's in Liberal Arts from Plan II, a program at UT. LOVED it!!

The concert thing is a bit tough, but maybe you can schedule around it? I've seen people there for a concert and the hallways are crowded 1) when people enter (before the hotel opens the ballroom), 2) during intermission and 3) when the concert ends. Not that it would be concerning, as you'll be inside a ballroom (with a DJ and/or your own music?). But one thing to check on would be the ambient sound. Are the ballrooms actually separated by permanent walls (e.g. across the hall from each other and/or well-insulated) or are the walls retractable?

Of course, the upside of this would be not having to pay for music at the wedding. : ) (j/k)

I wish I could schedule around it. My ceremony starts at 6pm. Then cocktails - we should be inside for reception by 7:30ish pm. When I checked the site for available times, they only had really early times left. I may have to move my ceremony time up an hour if that's even possible.  I believe the ballrooms have retractable walls between them and also actual walls. The "quiet" side of my 2 ballrooms has a wall so that's where we'll setup the tables for dinner. I think we're picking their house DJ. I would love to use our ipod but that may be a little too informal. I know my mom would not like it - and I would rather not hear it for the rest of my life! LOL.. My TA is going in November for a site visit and will check out the ballrooms.

Who knew the week of June 12th-18th is a really popular week to get married? I can't change my date bc we've already sent out our save the dates.

I wonder if I can ask them to start at 9pm when our music starts so we don't hear each other. I can only wish!!

Hey I don't know who else is getting married around the end of April 2011 but I am in contact with my WC now trying to figure out where the ceremony and reception are going to be. We were originally going to have the ceremony at the gazebo and then the reception on the beach. We emailed her cause we wanted to change the ceremony on the beach as well. I got a email back and she said we could have the ceremony on the beach but the reception she is checking on now cause of the rainy season the beach is smaller and don't know if it will be large enough for a reception. She is checking on it now for us now since we are only having 10-20 people, hopefully we can still have both on the beach. Just a heads up for you guys having a larger wedding if you haven't confirmed the locations. I don't know if anyone has been told the same thing. Fingers crossed it works out :)

Hey ladies. Took me a while to get through the last few pages. My MOH planned a surprise trip to Hedonism in Negril, Jamaica and we are just getting back. Welcome Kelly. Good idea about the FAQ. Jenny, you should get Fernandos price for hair the day of and compare the two. Lisa, your dress is beautiful! Did anyone mail their things to the resort yet? I'm trying to decide if Im going to mail some things.

Hey Jenny I'm getting married May1 first and we were told that Pelicanos beach is the biggest area of the beach that time of year, but it can hold up to 175 (I think thats what they said...could be more.)

We went on our site visit in April and there was receptions on all three areas of the beach including a huge 120 person wedding that was held on the beach behind the gazebo.  I don't think you have anything to worry about and that pherhaps your WC is confused.   We saw large weddings on all three areas of the beach when we were there and I don't think April is neccessary considered rainy season, any locals we talked to said they hardly get any rain that time of year if any.  Maybe I'm wrong bu that's what I heard at least. :)

Also FYI ladies  salon = ballroom.  LOL smile123.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
