I'm definitely getting one made - however I need to tone a few things up before I meet the dressmaker.  =)  I probably will have the traditional look but keep a little lose fitting. No need to split any seams!!

We have several asian shops in Houston so hopefully we'll find a good. My aunt from Taiwan may be able to help me get some really good material. I wish I could wear the ones my Mom made for her wedding. Unfortunately my american genes gave me a slightly bigger frame. LOL... My mom is like a 0-2 and I'm between 4-6.

I registered for a hand steamer for the same reason! Hoping I have room in my luggage for it!!

I agree!! I'm bringing a hand steamer myself. Macy's is having a super great deal on theirs at the moment. My sister had her dress pressed and let me tell you - they almost ruined her dress. Thank god they fixed it and was ready on day of the wedding. I've never seen her so close to a mental breakdown as when she saw her dress.

Save yourself a peace of mind and do it yourself. Wrap a towel around the head so it doesn't spit out water on your dress.

Lisa,

When I talked to my WC about having rehearsal dinner possibly at resort - she said as long as it's a private event - then guests from Gran and outside are allowed in. They just have to be notified about it. Just make sure you tell them you want a private event and you are having otuside Royal guests coming.

Ok ladies, I'm a little concerned.  When I went on my site visit in April I was told that a ballroom is always available just in case it rains etc.  So I messaged my WC to verify that a ballroom space is available in the event that it does rain and her reposne:

"Well we have always a back up at the salon, because the restaurants are just for semi-private receptions for 1 hour and al half without sound system and dance floor. At least right now we have one more wedding and a welcome dinner that day."

WTF!  The salon?  I really hope "the salon" is a code name for ballroom and she doesn't mean the hair salon!  I wrote her back to clarify.  The resort will be hearing from me directly today IF she states there is no ballroom space.

Have any of you ladies asked about this or been told the procedure?

No, and I don't like the sound of that either. I, too was told the ballroom was the backup plan.

I hear you.....one of my brothers and one of my bridesmaids will be alone :-(

I get that they probably would rather book double rooms but really...? I feel so bad because I keep suggesting to him that we can pair him up with one of our friends that is going alone but he is not super excited about that idea....

Anyone run into any issues with this?

Your WC will be the ultimate answer on that, but I wouldn't stress too much.. having been around a lot of conferences, they typically call the conference rooms "Salon x", so I would bet your back up is still in the ballroom. Hopefully at least -- that would be weird in a hair salon! msnwink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
