ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies for those of us who had to deal with the whole Mexicana fiasco, I just had a great idea. When the swine flu happened I saw a lot of brides with signs in their guests pictures that said "we survived the swine flu"

I am going to make one that says we made it and survived with out Mexicana lol

Has anyone used the people that The Royal reccomends and are somehwhat includeded in the package?  I think pictures are so important and would love to use Elizabeth Medina, but almost $5,000 for the smallest package is a little crazy in my opinion.

Anyone have any great other options?

Kayla

Hi!! Welcome to the forum! This is a great site. I'm a houston bride too!! Her website is amazing!! If you search for playa del carmen on her blog you'll see incredible pics. I'm actually bringing Steve Lee from steveleeweddings.com. His packages start at 6k for destinations but they include alot. A plus is that he's been to The Royal already.

Wondering how long WC's are taking getting back to you on basecamp. My WC is Elsa and it has been weeks. It even says on the side where the recent activity is that she hasn't logged in, in like 22 days. My wedding is not till April but it just seems like a long time to wait to get a response. Soon going to call....seems that will be the only way to get quick responses. What have your guys experiences been like with your WC's?

Hi Jennie, I also have Elsa as my WC and was wondering the same thing.  We set up a basecamp and I was sending questions there and no response, but don't worry.  She emailed me just the other day saying she hadn't heard from me in a while since we sent our deposit and she was making sure everything was ok.  Then she said she checked our basecamp and saw my messages and questions.  She said she never got notification that my questions had been sent there.  And even though I did click new message and clicked on her name at the bottom, she wasn't notified.  Trust me she's not ignoring you.    I would just email her directly from your email address and I'm sure she'll get back to you soon.  I thought that because my wedding isn't until June that she was just busy with brides with closer dates but it wasn't the case and yours is even sooner than mine.  If you can't get her on email then I would call. Hope everything works out! Jo

I know its been said so many times... but its worth mentioning again. The resorts like The Royal... get soooo many inquiries everyday and I constantly see the wedding coordinators doing email when ever they can. They sometimes have their laptops with them at the reception and I see them working on email at night. It sometimes takes them a week to get back to your responses so be patient with them. As well... don't always send them a question whenever you think of something. Sit on it for a day and bundle all your questions up...makes it much easier for everybody and is more effective in getting information back to you.

Best of luck with all your planning.

Thanks so much Sarah!  You ROCK! cheer2.gif

Just a little tidbit for everyone...I booked my 2011 wedding in 2010 and I asked my WC if we could use the 2010 prices and she said YES!

Super excited!

Also, I got signed up with basecamp right after booking my date and my WC, Martiza, has responded in a very timely matter.  everything has being going great so far.  Knock on wood!  wink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
